Each month, Students for Life of America honors select student groups for their dedication to promoting life on their campus and in the community. These students have shown through their courage and perseverance that they will change the hearts of their peers. They are changing the culture of their campus, and they are saving lives with their outreach.

This month, we congratulate Students for Life at Indiana University and Mississippi State Students for Life as our September College Groups of the Month!

Students for Life at Indiana University

Students for Life at Indiana University is off to an impressive start!  They have only been an official group for four weeks now, and yet, they are already making a huge difference on their very liberal campus.  In the past month, the members of Students for Life at Indiana University attended Right to Life of Indianapolis Banquet where they heard Abby Johnson share her story.  IU students also participated in the National Pro-Life Chalk Day thereby spreading the pro-life message to their campus.

But that’s not all! The students hosted the Planned Parenthood Project where they dealt with protesters and vandalism. Despite the opposition, they courageously continued to share the truth to their peers!

Along with these events, IU Students for Life also started the Pregnant on Campus Initiative, and they are already working to help women in need in Bloomington.  The students put together a new group website with resources for students and information about their group.  Check out their website here: http://sflatiu.weebly.com/.

Last but not least, Students for Life at Indiana University is impacting more than the culture of their campus. They are changing the lives of their fellow students. Theresa McHugh, the President of IU Students for Life, had a two hour conversation with a fellow student whose mother works at Planned Parenthood. The student’s mother is a secretary at Planned Parenthood because it was the only job she could find.  Our pro-life students are now reaching out to Abby Johnson’s organization “And Then There Were None” to see if they can help find a new job for the student’s mother.

Thank you, Students for Life at Indiana University, for turning the tide at Indiana University!

Mississippi State Students for Life

Mississippi State Students for Life, under the leadership of Junior, Nick Bell, is a force to be reckoned with at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. Upon realizing Starkville was the only college town in the Southeastern Conference that did not have a Pregnancy Resource Center, MSU Students for Life made it their mission to help open the Starkville Pregnancy Care Center. Although they are a small group in number, they have helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars so that the Pregnancy Care Center can open their doors within the next month. MSU Students for Life has already begun signing up volunteers to help run the clinic. Starkville will now have a life-affirming Pregnancy Care Center so that women at Mississippi State University can receive real care.

Thank you, Mississippi Students for Life, for reaching out to women in need!
