Ok, I got sucked into a bunch of NFL fantasy football leagues this year. I've been avoiding doing this for years because it looks like a huge time suck. However, at some point you turn into a fat old fart and it becomes easier to justify just sitting around and drinking beer and not doing more than watch Ryan Fitzpatrick overthrow Stevie Johnson (and cursing madly).
The draft from my first league is shown above. This is the one that my friend Tom started up (you've seen his artistic photos here). I can't remember if we agreed to place a wager on this league, but I think it was S/. 10. Actually, I'd thought we had decided not to run this league, but I got an email telling me the draft was happening and I sat there and did it. Apparently, I was the only person running the draft because I finished all 12 rounds in 8 minutes and got the above team. I'm psyched because I actually got some Packers with this crew (that's the only reason I drafted the Packers D..just for the sheer giggles of it). And Tom...there's no going back and resetting this league just because nobody else manned the craft when the draft was going on. I want to watch it play out!
The other draft I did was Thursday right during the boring ass pre-season game. This one was for a $10 buy in. I think I did OK with that draft, but I might have reached with Marshawn Lynch just a bit. I was picking 11th, so it was a little slim and I was happy to pick up Stafford where I did. I'll post the total results there and would appreciate the criticisms of people "in the know," since I have one more draft to do at 7PM today. I WILL take your comments seriously, so if you have any sleepers, please let me know. Also, if you saw places I took one player and should have grabbed another, please say so.
So, yeah, Fantasy Football seems like a bit of a time drag...but it's another excuse to have parties and hang out with buds, so why not?
Oh, here are the results, let it be known that it's a bit of a weird league since my brother put together some random point values (like -30 if your field goal kicker misses an extra point). Plus, we had to choose head coaches, but I never really checked what they have to do to score points.
