The Fallen Angel cigar is a well-reviewed cigar by AJ Fernandez. This box-pressed cigar has a perfect looking wrapper with minimal veins and a good draw after cutting. Once lit up, this flavor packed cigar has a charred oak note with lots of pepper. Later on it mellows out and a sweet and spicy cinnamon flavor takes over. Overall, the construction was perfect and the flavors delicious. This is yet another easy to recommend cigar coming from AJF. Give one a try!

IamDarren: I have said it before, I am not a huge box press fan but I love the wrapper on this stick. Smoother than a babies bottom.

IamDarren: Quite the blend of flavor. Hard to pin down. Very bright peppercorn flavor up front with some wood and sweet spice. Slightly buttery on the finish.

Terry1: Plenty of smoke to start off with. Lots of flavors intermingling. In a general sense I’m getting some sweetness, a spicy note in the sinus and an oaky woody note.

IamDarren: They tout this cigar as full bodied and I would agree that it is full flavored but im not getting that much strength yet. Flavor is mixing well and very tasty.

Terry1: I’m having a hard time identifying where this cigar wants to go. Some puffs are sweet and creamy with a hint of cedar, then others are pepper heavy with a charred oak barrel note. Burn is good so far being box pressed.

IamDarren: Yeah, plenty of smoke and decent burn for a box press. Flavor is super complex. Im starting to get a hint of that charred oak on the finish now. It may be a little over the top but I like how the flavors mix together to create something unique. We will see what happens in the transition to the next third. Mine is burning slow so it may be awhile.

Terry1: Mine is slow burning too. I’ve been experimenting with how fast I puff to see if that’s causing the flavor changes and I’m thinking the slower I smoke the more the sweetness comes out. Can’t go to slow or we’ll be here all night.

IamDarren: Funny story about how I got these. Last year when these came out they put together 10 packs that were in a special limited edition box called Devils Ink. I saw they were on sale for like 26 bucks… so I thought why not? Less than 3 bucks a stick. Turns out once these started being reviewed and people found out the price went to 5 bucks a stick.

IamDarren: Im just crossing into the second third. Flavor is mellowing. Pepper is fading. Getting a lot more sweetness. Very chewey smoke. There is an underlying richness that is immediately covered up by that sweet spice. Really tasty.

Terry1: I guess that’s capitalism. Glad you got in early. Burn is starting to waver. Sweetness is about the same and there’s now a charred note on the finish. It’s not as peppery or as strong as I expected. Maybe it’ll hit me later.

Terry1: Band came off without incident. Pepper is about gone. I’m getting that sweetness with maybe a graham cracker note and a little of the charred oak. I’m around halfway and I can now feel some of the nicotine. If this continues to strengthen I’m wondering if I’ll be able to finish this cigar.

IamDarren: im not feeling it yet but there is a lot of cigar left. Mine has really mellowed. Almost no pepper at all now. Maybe the graham cracker is whats giving mine the chewey character. Im just really enjoying the flavor profile. And I like the transition from the bright peppery note in the first third to the mellow sweet spice we are getting now.

Terry1: I’m nearing the end. Smoke is getting hot. No other transitions in the final third but then it didn’t really need to change. I enjoyed the last half of the Fallen Angel when the sweetness picked up.

Terry1: Yeah, makes me think the flavors would be more pronounced in a smaller size. Mine got a little spongy towards the end. Loosely filled for the box press is my guess.
