What is the Ecuador Business Directory?
The Ecuador Business Directory launched in November 2016 and is part of the GringosAbroad Content Network. The Directory is produced by Dena and I, and our company Storyteller Media.
It’s our goal to create the largest and most useful directory of Ecuador businesses, services and resources in English. To support Ecuador businesses, we offer our Basic Listing for free.
The directory isn’t a classifieds site.
We don’t accept listings for individual items (set of car tires, ride share to Quito, or house-sitting for 3 weeks). But we do accept listings from businesses who sell tires, provide ongoing van service to Quito, or do house-sitting professionally.
How to Use the Directory
To use the directory, just visit ecuador.gringosabroad.com. It is a subsection of our main blog. And it’s free to use.
We have incorporated a rating and comment feature for each business and resource. Help other expats and travelers by sharing your experience on a specific listing.
Is there a business you love to do business with? Tell them to list on the directory and then give them a detailed review. This will build their reputation among the expat community and bring them much more business.
Why Did We Create the Directory?
We wanted to broaden the perspective that readers get on GringosAbroad. While Dena and I have covered much of the country – there is much more that we haven’t seen.
This is where you come in.
Rather than post your comments in a Facebook post that will disappear within days (if not hours) your comments in the Directory will remain for years. And will help more people.
Thanks to our loyal audience, GringosAbroad continues to grow every month. As of today, our site surpassed 100,000 monthly pageviews (107, 562). See all our traffic numbers. Because of this, we felt that this is the right time to produce a powerful directory tool for our audience.
How Do the Listings Work?
Every listing lasts for one year. At the end of the year, you can renew for another 12 months. The reason for this is to keep each listing as up to date as possible.
We offer three types of listings: Basic (Free), Advanced and Featured.
Every free listing includes:
an interactive map
4 photos
4 categories
embedded video
links to the site (plus Facebook and Twitter)
detailed description
detailed analytics (see how many visitors and from what countries). Analytics are visible only to the owner of each listing.
Advanced Listing: (USD$19.00/year) Everything in the Basic Listing, plus you can include special offers and you can upload 12 photos.
Featured Listing: (USD$59.00/year) Everything in the Advanced Listing, plus your listing is featured in a category of your choice. You’ll also get to upload up to 24 photos.
Every listing (free and premium) gets its own unique page. This can even be used as your own webpage, complete with a unique URL.

Places are businesses or attractions with a physical location.
Resources includes services, expat blogs and other tools that are not location dependent.
