Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony has the honour of being invited to deliver the address at the Fall 2013 Commencement of Fort Valley State University in Georgia, USA, on Saturday.

Dr Anthony will deliver his address on the connectivity between the United States and the rest of the world in this era of global interdependence.

In a letter dated August 12, 2013, Ivelaw Lloyd Griffith, Ph.D., President of the Fort Valley State University informed Dr. Anthony, that he has also been selected as the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate in Letters. Dr. Anthony will be the first recipient of the Honorary Doctorate in Letters under the presidency of Dr. Griffith, who was recently appointed the Ninth-President of the Fort Valley State University.

While at Fort Valley State University, the Prime Minister will meet with relevant corporate and civic executives to explore opportunities for the tourism and agriculture sectors. He will start his programme by a breakfast meeting with a group of potential investors. Dr. Anthony will also undertake a tour of the university’s agricultural science and research facilities with the aim of exploring educational opportunities for Saint Lucians.

The Fort Valley State University was established in 1895 and has a historic mission to extend the educational and socio-economic perimeters of under-represented citizens.

Dr. Anthony will be accompanied by his Administrative Attaché Calixte George Jr. and will return to Saint Lucia on Monday.

The cost of this engagement is being met by the Fort Valley State University.

During Dr. Anthony’s absence, Philip J. Pierre, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport will act as Prime Minister.
