Saint Lucian author and basketball player, Arnold Henry, is partnering with the Holy Family Children’s Home in Ciceron, in donating the sales of his book for the month of March to the home.
Henry told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today that he will be matching the sales too.
Sister Anthonia David of the children’s home said this to Henry: “Thanks Arnold for the prompt and extensive response. It is really wonderful to know that Entrepot Secondary School, impact your life positive as it did mine.”
“Thank you for being so generous with your time, talent and treasure in an effort to impact positively on the lives of others and most importantly for having the courage to share your story. You are inspiring persons much more than you know.”
Henry was born and raised in Castries, St. Lucia. In 2001 he was awarded Saint Lucia’s National Junior Male Basketball Player of the Year award.
From 2003-2008, Arnold played basketball for five different schools in America: Massanutten Military Academy, University of Vermont, Carl Albert State College, University of North Florida, and Edward Waters College.
His debut book, “Hanging On To My Dreams”, was officially launched on Jul. 27, 2011 in Toronto, Ontario Canada.
Arnold Henry shares his struggles as a youth growing up on the island, along with a hectic college basketball career in the United States of America.
In 2004, Arnold Henry became Saint Lucia’s first and still the only male basketball player from his island to achieve a full basketball scholarship as a freshman from an institution part of the highest National Collegiate Athlete Association, better known as NCAA Division One.
Henry hopes that his book will inspire positivity and motivate young adults who doubt their own dreams.
In spring 2009, Arnold obtained his Bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems. Arnold now resides in Calgary Alberta, Canada. He hopes to play professional basketball in Europe.
