ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Greater St. Louis Honor Flight has provided 35 flights to veterans wanting to see their national war memorials at no cost to them.

The local non-profit operates off of private and corporate donations.

Carson Baur tells KMOX that Honor Flight is actively recruiting veterans.

“I would ask anybody who’s out there and knows of a World War II or Korean veteran who might have an interest to visit our website and fill out an application, and we’ll fly them up to Washington, D.C.,” he says.

Baur says that since their inception in 2009, Honor Flight has flown more than 1,000 local veterans up to D.C. He says they’ll continue to do it to serve their veterans, and in the future they’d like to provide flights for Vietnam and more recent war veterans.
