The Magic House – Super Kids Earth Day Evening

April 22

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Calling all superheroes! The earth needs your help. Join The Magic House for a Super Kids Earth Day celebration where you will get your hands dirty as you plant seeds to start your own garden at home.

Learn about where your food comes from, how composting can reduce your trash and why saving the planet can be down and dirty fun! Super Kids Earth Day Evening is sponsored by St. Louis County Public Health Waste Management.

Cost: Free with Museum admission.

Missouri Botanical Garden – American Girl Doll Event

If you have an American Girl fan in the family you may want to check out this American Girl Doll Event at the Missouri Botanical Garden April 23, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm.

Here’s the description:

Meet Lea Clark, 2016 American Girl Doll of the Year at the brand new Brookings Exploration Center!

Discover the rainforest in the Climatron, make a craft in the Exploration Center’s new PlantLab and then head to the Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden for a special ice cream treat!

Your child will receive a bag filled with special goodies, admission to the Children’s Garden and ice cream!

St. Louis Zoo World Penguin Day

Saturday April 23rd 11 AM – 3 PM

Head to the Penguin & Puffin Coast for penguin-related activities and games for kids, biofacts, videos of our penguins and more in celebration of World Penguin Day (officially April 25). Penguin keepers, docents and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions.

Breakfast With The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Butterfly House

Join The Very Hungry Caterpillar for brunch at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House! You’ll be munching on a smorgasbord of all The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s favorite foods. Guests will meet live caterpillars and butterflies, listen to readings of Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar book and explore our interactive Bug Stations. This special day will be captured by a souvenir photo with The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Reservations required; space is limited.

Earth Day Eve in Forest Park

Start the celebration early at Earth Day Eve – a family-friendly evening with great food, great music, and fun activities on the Festival grounds in the Earth Day Cafe area. Funds raised through this event support the year-round programming of St. Louis Earth Day.

$45 Friends of Earth Day (VIP) admission

Shake 38 – Shakespeare Festival St. Louis

CRY HAVOC

St. Louis Public Library – Central Library

We are pleased to present the first-ever SHAKE 38 featured event, a one-man play called Cry Havoc. This amazing work, written and performed by actor/veteran Stephan Wolfert, weaves speeches from Shakespeare’s most famous soldiers with personal experience to tell the story of the difficulties veterans face when they “de-cruit” and rejoin the civilian world. Cry Havoc is presented in partnership with the Missouri Humanities Council, and with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the St. Louis Public Library.

Free Admission To National Parks

National Parks Week is coming up April 16th through 24th which gives you Free Park Admission in over 400 National Parks.

Here are a few of the planned events:

April 22: Earth Day

On Earth Day, if you want to roll up your sleeves and pitch in with a project, look for a park where you can help out.

April 23: National Park Instameet

Join an InstaMeet in a park. Gather in a designated place at a specific time to take photos and short videos to post on Instagram (and other social media) with the same hashtag: #FindYourParkInstaMeet, #FindYourPark, #EncuentraTuParque, #NPS100

April 24: Park Rx Day

On Park Rx Day, parks will host fun recreational activities that encourage healthy lifestyles and promote physical and mental well being.

St. Louis Zoo Earth Day Festival

Head to the St. Louis Zoo for Earth Day: Party for the Planet April 24th from 11am to 3pm.

Enjoy live entertainment, fun educational activities, keeper chats and more. Take action and become a Superhero for the planet Earth! Pick up a map of events at either Zoo entrance and head for Earth Day stations around the Zoo. Visit each station to gain the powers you will need to defend the earth. Visit at least three of the stations and claim your prize back at the Zoo’s north or south entrance.

Keeper Chats & Enrichment Activities:

11 a.m. — Coquerel’s sifaka in the Primate House

11:30 a.m. — Sea lions at Sea Lion Sound

12 noon — Gorillas at Fragile Forest

12:30 p.m. — To be determined

1 p.m. — Meerkats at Children’s Zoo

1:30 p.m. — Kangaroo/wallaby in the Antelope House

2 p.m. — Giant tortoises at Herpetarium

2:30 p.m. — American white pelican at the North Lake

3 p.m. — Polar bear at Polar Bear Point

Admission to the Zoo and Earth Day activities is free. Admission to the Children’s Zoo is $4/person. Children under 2 are free. The Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

St. Louis Earth Day Festival

The St. Louis Earth Day Festival is Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 10 am – 6 pm at the Muny Grounds, Forest Park.

Here’s the information from the website:

Participate in a variety of hands-on educational activities, meet area non-profits that share the mission of Earth Day, and learn about sustainable products and services offered by local businesses. Enjoy three stages of entertainment, great food, and family-friendly programming throughout the duration of the festival. This year’s event will include special features, like yoga classes all day for both adults and children, a rock climbing wall, and a pet adoption area. This year’s theme of the festival is “Think Global, Act STL”.

Event entry is free; the Earth Day Festival is a welcoming place where all are invited for celebration and learning.

Safety House – Safe Kids Day Festival

Join Safety House for the Safe Kids Day Festival April 24th from 1pm to 4pm.

They will have Free Bike Helmets – fitted to your child’s needs – while supplies last.

Free Food, Games, Prizes and Much More!

Safety House provides life-saving training & education on fire safety in the home. Various other programs emphasize accident prevention & wellness for all.
