5-7, for a reception for the artists.  Come celebrate the work of your friends and share yummy snacks.  Rebecca DeWitt's name was accidentally left off the list of students showing work at the Fairbanks Museum.  Sorry Rebecca - your drawing looks great!  We hope to see you tonight at the reception.  Remember - tonight at 5:00 at the Fairbanks Museum.  THERE BE MONSTERS.

Notes from Guidance:  Attn Freshmen & Sophomores:  The applications for MedQuest2014 are now available!  MedQuest is a weeklong health careers exploration program, held at Lyndon State College,

July 13-18.  This program offers a ton of hands-on experiences and opportunities for students to strengthen their skills and resources for health career development. Students also get to shadow health care professionals in their work setting.  The application deadline for MedQuest is March 10. . . Attn Juniors:  If YOU have a strong interest in a health care career and you’re planning to apply to a college to pursue a health care degree or certificate, you should consider CollegeQuest, a 6-week summer enrichment program in health care.  CollegeQuest is a no-cost program with specific eligibility requirements.  Eligible students will be of either modest income or the first in their family to attend college.  The application deadline for CollegeQuest is March 27.  Applications for MedQuest and CollegeQuest are available in Guidance (see Mrs. McCaffrey with any questions) or with Mrs. Rhodes in ST225. . . The spring SAT prep class will be offered March 24 - April 30.  Classes will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30.  Cost is $100 and that includes the book.  Pick up a registration form in Guidance.

Attn all writers, songwriters, and improv artists:  The deadline for the Champlain College Young Writers conference is fast approaching.  Be sure all materials are in by Feb 15.  See Mrs. Mackenzie before school in R110 with any questions.

Attn all skiers and snowboarders!  Is Q Burke getting old?  Want to shred some new terrain?  Are you paying attention?  The Outing Club is taking 14 students to the Sunday River Ski Resort in Maine on March 8, which is the Saturday after February break.  Discounted tickets are $50 each and it is first come first served.  A signed permission slip and payment gets you a seat on the lift.  See Mr. Bowen in ST251 for details and paperwork.

The Scholastic Art & Writing awards recognize creative teens and are the nation’s largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers.  The Fine Arts Dept is proud to announce this year’s winners:  Sofia Dimartino received a high honor gold key award in printmaking.  Silver key awards went to Sohee Koh in Drawing and Thyme Plummer-Krause in printmaking.  Honorable mention awards are:  Quinn Bornstein, Megan Jewell, and Sammy Storz for photography, and Sohee Koh and Cara Metivier in drawing.  Students’ work will be on exhibit at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center from Feb 22 – March 8.  Students will participate in an award ceremony on March 8 at noon.  Congratulations!

Get to Thaddeus right after school tomorrow, that's Friday, for another round of Raspberry Swirl and Chocolate Swirl Cheesecakes.  They are delicious, decorated with whipped cream with a touch of chocolate or raspberry, and are only $2 each.  Last semester we sold 140 in less than 15 minutes.  Get there fast!
