Hi There! I’m Bethany from Haute Kippy. I’m so excited to be here and share with you one of my newest free crochet patterns.

Let’s get to know each other a little first…

I didn’t grow up crocheting, but I did grow up sewing, crafting and baking. I taught myself how to crochet after having my youngest daughter. It’s become the sweetest addiction, and there’s rarely been a day since when I haven’t picked up my hooks. When I was blessed with the opportunity to become a stay at home mom, my imagination went into over-drive! I knew I needed a creative outlet and platform to share my ideas.

Since the Haute Kippy blog launched last year, I’ve been able to share a few craft projects and several crochet patterns with the crafting community. I have even more ideas and projects that I want to share in the future- including baking, sewing, crafting, party decor and most importantly, more CROCHET! I know it’s one of your favorite hobbies and it’s definitely my favorite hobby. I hope you’ll stick around to see Haute Kippy grow, as I continue to add more fun projects, yummy recipes and beautiful free crochet designs to share with you.

Now how about those boot cuffs…

I love accessories, and I love to design and create my own unique pieces. Boot cuffs are some of the best fall/winter accessories one could want. They add style and flair to your overall look, without creating bulk or too much heat like wearing full leg warmers would. My boot cuffs are very special, they are super fun and easy to make. They have sweet scalloped detailing at the top. This gives them a cute and feminine flair when they’re peeking out from under your boots. The rich texture of the ribbed pattern along the sides creates depth, and allows you to wear them as high up, or as pushed down as you please to suit your look.

I made these using Red Heart With Love (Pictured in Minty). I’ve also made some using Caron Simply Soft Party (Pictured in Chocolate Sparkle). With a thinner worsted yarn like Caron’s, they tend to come out smaller. To remedy this you could go up to H hook, crochet more loosely or add one or two more rows in the ribbing to make them slightly taller. In a regular or thick worsted, such as Red Heart With Love, they come out simply divine- so soft and so plush!

Here’s a little tip…

If you know how to CFHDC or, chainless foundation half double crochet, I encourage you to use that method to make the first row of the cuff, in lieu of chaining. It makes that row more stretchy than with chains, and I feel it’s quicker than crocheting into a chain. I make them this way to sell, or as gifts.

If you don’t know how to CFHDC never fear! It’s not a big deal. I make these cuffs using both methods and if you don’t chain too tightly, they will come out with just enough stretch to fit very comfortably. If you have wider calves or need to make these in a custom size up or down, the multiple for the shell pattern is 4.

Let’s get started!
