ST. GEORGE — Big O Tires franchise advisory council recently extended their national charity partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which benefits research and care for children with pediatric cancer.

During the month of July, Big O Tires collected over $50,000 in funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, adding to a total of over half a million dollars contributed by Big O Tires franchisees, customers and Big O corporate since 2006. Big O Tires owners in Cedar City, St. George and Mesquite, Nevada, would like to thank their communities for the part they played in supporting this worthy cause.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has been nationally featured on “Oprah,” the “Today” show, “The Early Show” on CBS, Time Magazine, People Magazine, USA Today and others. The foundation was started by a young girl named Alexandra “Alex” Scott at age four. While suffering from neuroblastoma, a form of aggressive childhood cancer, Alex began raising funds for research with her own lemonade stand.

In August 2004, at the age of eight, Alex passed away knowing that with the help of others, she had raised over $1 million to help find a cure for all kids with cancer. The charity continues to grow, with millions of dollars in funds raised and donated to research annually. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised more than $120 million and funded over 550 research projects toward the goal of putting an end to childhood cancer.
