Starting today, March 24, 2016, the latest Nik Collection plugins are free to download from Google. Till today, Nik Collection was on sale for 149 USD. If you purchased it already this year you can ask for a refund. The Nik Collection is comprised of seven desktop plug-ins that provide a powerful range of photo editing capabilities — from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images.

Nik Collection consists of following plugins: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine.

Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day.

I have been using Nik Collection plugins since a few years. My favorite one is Silver Efex Pro, a very easy to use black-and-white plug-in with a long list of presets listed along the left side of the window, complete with a small preview of how the effect will look. All the presets emulate nearly 20 popular film types, add finishing adjustments like toners and borders, and tune your image to produce superior black-and-white results.

Also Google stated that it will focus its long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile. Such a declaration is rising a question among many photographers: Will Google keep developing the desktop applications and updating Nik Collection plugins?
