FESTIVALS, FUNDRAISERS, PARTIES

Celebration and summer-time go hand in hand. Summer 2015 in Steamboat Springs will offer its fair share of sun and fun. So branch out, attend a new fundraiser or event and have fun.

READERS’ PICKS

Steamboat Pilot & Today asked readers what their favorite summertime events are in Steamboat Springs, and here is what a few of them said:

“The rodeo is our favorite, especially the riding competitions and the chasing of the sheep and the cows. We love the heritage it brings to the valley.”

— The Mays family

“One of my favorite events when we lived in Steamboat was the Hot Air Balloon Rodeo. They floated by our back window!”

— Cynthia Boland Vaughn

“One of the things I love about Steamboat in the summertime is the Alpine slide; it’s such a fun thing to do.”

— Marshall Meece

“I like the Yampa River festival because it takes advantage of local amenities, mainly the river, that are the heart and soul of this town. It’s a healthy thing to enjoy and relatively free for people to go to.”

— George Tolles

“Art in the Park is one of the events that makes Steamboat in the summer so great. That, and Literary Sojourn later in the summer. I’ve been several times, and it’s fantastic every year.”

— Deanna Manthei

“The Fourth of July celebration is a down-home, small-town celebration. I think that’s why people come to Steamboat for the celebration; they just like the local feel to it.”
