The Steamboat Pilot & Today will be hosting its monthly Coffee and a Newspaper from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Members of Steamboat Springs’ Young Professional Network will be attending to help lead a discussion on the issues facing the younger generation of Steamboat residents. Among the items to be discussed will be results from a recent survey on housing YPN conducted.
Members of the newspaper staff — including Publisher Suzanne Schlicht and Editor Lisa Schlichtman — also will be on hand.
The event is held at the newspaper office, 1901 Curve Plaza, and coffee and pastries will be provided. You also are welcome to tour the building.
Coffee Break for Dads is 1st Tuesday of the month
Coffee Break for Dads is an informal get-together that provides a casual opportunity for dads to talk with one another and share strategies for managing day-to-day challenges in any area of their lives.
The group will meet the first Tuesday of every month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. upstairs at the Paddlewheel Coffee and Tea Co. on corner of Seventh Street and Lincoln Avenue.
The group is open to all dads of children of any age. Coffee and snacks will be available at no cost.

Routt County Rifle Club hosting pistol league

Steamboat Arts Council developing artist exchange
The Steamboat Springs Arts Council currently is developing a visiting artist exchange between Routt County teachers and local artists. The council has confidence that this exchange program can spread creativity and resources through practicing artists, local teachers and students working together in the classroom.
How it will work is an art teacher in need of assistance could contact an artist on the list to see if they are available to help. Together, the artist and teacher would create a plan for the project idea and bring it to life in the classroom. This could be a one-hour class, a semester-long project or any configuration of time that is agreeable to both.
To make this work, the Arts Council is searching for Steamboat Arts Council Artist Members who may be interested in participating.

Steamboat grad Patten named to president’s list
Monica J. Patten, of Steamboat Springs, a junior majoring in biology, has been named to the president’s list for the fall 2014 semester at SUNY Oswego.
Students who achieve grade-point averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale are named to the president’s list, the top 7.4 percent of Oswego students.
Yampa Valley Fly Fishers meeting is on Wednesday
Yampa Valley Fly Fishers annual fly tying meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rex’s American Grill and Bar.
This year, the group is featuring Charlie Craven, of Charlie’s Fly Box in Arvada. Charlie has been a professional fly tyer for more than 30 years and is the originator of many popular fly patterns including the Jujubee Midge, the Charlie Boy Hopper and the Dirty Hippy. Charlie also is a noted photographer and author and is the Fly Tyer’s Bench contributor to Flyfisherman Magazine.
The event is free and open to the public.
Volunteers needed to coach Science Olympiad teams
Steamboat Springs Middle School is looking for volunteers to coach a team or teams for the 2015 Science Olympiad competition in a variety of science and engineering topics. These areas include oceanography, meteorology, astronomy, robotics, mechanical and aerospace engineering.
The competition will be held in Ft. Collins on March 7, so the teams will be practicing for the next six weeks. Hayden Public Library closed all day Wednesday
The Hayden Public Library will be closed all day Wednesday due to upgrading the library’s software system. It will reopen Thursday.
