Ride the Wilds Jamboree

Labor Day has passed, the kids are back in school and everyone is asking where the summer has gone. It’s looking like it will earlier than usual for all of the splendor of peak fall foliage in New England. I’ve been noticing hints of changing colors since mid-August.  During the Fall Foliage season in New England you have to take at least one scenic drive and this year, I have the best possible idea for you! I have had the opportunity over the last several months to work with some amazing people to organize an event that will not only be enjoyable for all of those in attendance but will help CASA of NH spread more awareness about the important work that they are doing.

The event is Ride the Wilds Jamboree and it will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Bear Rock Adventures in Colebrook, New Hampshire. Metallak ATV Club will be hosting, “Extreme Drag Challenge” specifically for ATV and UTV riders. Races will be equipped with state-of-the-art timing equipment and race tree and there will be a series of classes to compete in. Individuals can register to compete the day of the event. There will be lots of spots to watch this fast paced ATV event. We will even have an unmanned aerial vehicle (yeah – a drone!) at the event, compliments of Northpoint Collision, taking high definition video footage and still photos. For a very reasonable donation, you can arrange to have such a cool souvenir!

There will also be geo-caching, an ATV simulator from NHOVA, a virtual welding simulator from White Mountains Community College, music from Northern Lights,  pond fishing for kids under 12, scenic tractor-pulled hay ride tours, Blessing of the ATVs, food and various vendors. You can support many quality local organizations and businesses that day. I can’t wait to stop by the booths from Wounded Warrior Project, Ski-Bees, Kiwani’s Club, Great North Woods ATV Club, Moose Muck, North Country Marketplace and Salvage, Mostly Muffins and April’s Maple!

The day’s festivities will conclude with an awards ceremony and the North of the Notches Craft Brew Fest. The complimentary tasting (thank you Amoskeag Beverages and Cabins at Lopstick!) for guests over twenty-one years old will feature three of New Hampshire’s finest breweries. Lively music will be performed by the popular area band, Black Jack.

One of the many fantastic people I’ve gotten to work with on this project is one of NH Magazine’s Most Remarkable Women of the Year, Corrine Rober. Corrine stated, “The Grand North is an unspoiled territory full of adventure. The Ride The Wilds Fall Jamboree is a wonderful reason to come explore the unparalleled beauty of the mountainous pastural farm land, rolling fields and abundant wildlife the area has to offer. The overwhelming pace of every day life is highlighted by the stark contrast of open space & unhurried nature of the area. Come explore the area on foot or by ATV. Enjoy a country band in an open field surrounded by a surreal vista, the excitement of mud drags, a short guided ATV tour with your family or hay ride on the back roads of the area. Ride the Wilds Jamboree for Casa is an event for the whole family.”

This is coming up soon . .  . so start making your plans now. Make it a day trip or consider a weekend trip. I hope to see you there!
