Looking for some free or really cheap things to do with your kids these school holidays? Have a go at some of these!

PERTH

Head to the WA Museum on Saturday 12th April between 10am and 4pm for heaps of fun, free and really cheap activities for the dinosaur lover in your life. The museum also has free puppet shows most days over the holidays.

The Lego brick zone at Karrinyup shopping centre is on from April 22nd-27th and is completely free, also look out for the Easter bunny who will be roaming the centre from April 14th-19th.

Check out the Rio Tinto Naturescape at Kings Park, but be prepared for the kids to get a bit wet and dirty all in the name of free fun!

Whiteman Park have heaps of Easter activities over the holidays for $5 a child, as well as their terrific tractors exhibit with entry for a gold coin donation and heaps of free stuff to see and do too.

Have you checked out the water labyrinth in the city yet, completely free.

Check out Landsdale farm school and see all the adorable little animals at only $6 a person.

Be a pirate for a day and tour the Duyfken, a replica of the first European ship to reach Australia in Fremantle Harbour, $25 for the whole family.

Join in a Bizurcus workshop in the city for Free from April 21st-24th.

The Fremantle street arts festival is on from April 19th-21st and is free.

SYDNEY

The Sydney Family show April 12th-23rd has free entry with lots of activities, rides however are ticketed.

Check out the Rhinoceros sculptures in the target mall at Bankstown Central and on the sculpture trail in the Botanic Gardens, all a part of Taronga Zoo’s wild rhino conservation campaign.

Head to Sydney’s Olympic park armoury for the free Artexpress exhibition until April 27th.

On April 12th ‘the big draw is on in Newcastle, a great free day of drawing and art fun for the whole family.

St Ives shopping village will be hosting some awesome Easter activities over the holidays and after Easter the fun continues with the turbo craft village.

The Sydney Easter parade on April 21st in Hyde Park is great if you are interested in the religious meaning behind Easter and it’s all free.

The Woollahra council chambers have several free events on over the holidays for kids to enjoy.

Check out your local library for story times, Easter activities and more, all free.

MELBOURNE

 Head into Federation square for ‘The Very Big Laugh Out’, ‘Ong-als Babbling Comedy, ‘Yo-yo Guy’ and ‘Sivouplait’ on different dates throughout April as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

A circus performer will be doing shows at Medibank Icehouse as well as face painting and beginner ice skating lessons all for free 7th-22nd April.

Queen Victoria Markets will be hosting lots of free activities for Easter including boiled egg painting, Easter biscuit decorating, egg hunting, craft workshops and the Parklands animal farm.

Check out the free family fun day at the National Rhododendron Garden, including Reptiles and marsupials to touch on April 15th.

Head to the Melbourne museum for Bugs Alive, ‘Dinosaur Walk, The Human Body, Forest Secrets, Marine Life and more, all included with museum entry.

Wildlife extreme will be at Prahram Market over the holidays where the kids can handle and see some of Australia’s coolest animals.

The Rushworth Easter heritage festival will be on April 19th in Rushworth town centre with lots of free activities.

BRISBANE

Kite flying days at Clontarf Beach, 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month.

Gallery of Modern Art will be showing animated films, have kids exhibitions, virtual drawing workshops and hands on activities all free.

Redbank plaza shopping centre is hosting free soccer workshops every Tuesday and free gymnastics workshops every Thursday.

Check out the markets at Esk, Kuraby, Caboolture, Hamilton, Redcliffe Jetty, Surfers Paradise or Woombye.

Unleash your inner engineer at Ipswich Art Gallery every day for the Ball Run.

Take your preschooler to the teddy bears picnic and story time at Southbank every Tuesday,

Head to the Surfers Paradise festival, held throughout April with lots of different free events for the whole family.

Indooropily library will be hosting a potted plant workshop on April with all equipment supplied so kids can make , plant and bring home their iwn funky potted plant.

ADELAIDE

Check out ‘Brick by Brick’ for lego lovers at the Kings Floor in Mt Gambier.

Head to markets in Kadina, Curramulka, Minlaton, Moonta or Adelaide Showgrounds.

The South Australian Museum have heaps of free school holiday activities to keep the kids entertained.

Easter Fun days at Glenelg are sure to be a hit with face painting, balloon animals, cuddly animal farm and more from April 20th-24th.

Head to Adelaide Botanic Gardens for free guided walking tours every day with lots to see and explore.

 Check out your local library for heaps of free school holiday activities.

Google ‘Splash Adelaide’ to find out the latest initiative happening in the city, always something fun and free happening.

TASMANIA

The school holiday program at the Huon LINC has lots of exciting activities running all holidays including music and plasticine modelling.

On April 20th Burnie Park will be buzzing with tea parties, workshops, Easter activities and more.

Carnegie Gallery in Hobart is open every day to view the beautiful contemporary art exhibits and is free.

Check out your local markets in Devonport, Launceston, Pontville, Moonah and Hobart Showgrounds.

Check out ‘The Discovery Space’ and lots of other free activities at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart.

 Head to City Park in Launceston to giggle at the antics of the Macaque Monkeys housed there.

Ask at your local library about their range of free school holiday activities.

ALICE SPRINGS

 The Alice Springs library are hosting heaps of free activities for kids including a Wii sports resort tournament, felt cup cake making, play doh and more.

The Adelaide River railway station is a great place for a picnic with any little train lovers in your life.

The Alice Springs Telegraph station is another great pace to visit for a picnic, guided walk and to soak up the history all for free.

The Art Gallery of the Northern Territory is a great, free place to visit with so many exhibits to see for fun for all ages.

Come see the Barramundi feeding shows at 9.30am and 1.30 every day at Territory Manor in Mataranka, sure to thrill the kids and adults alike.

Stop by the Cultural Centre at Uluru-Kata Tjuta for free entry, to learn all about this great wonder of our world.

CANBERRA

The Tidbinbilla Extravaganza at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve on April 13th for heaps of music, activities and fun for the whole family.

The National Museum of Australia has lots of free school holiday activities from April 12th-27th.

The Australian National Botanic Gardens hosts an array of school holiday activities each year, check out their website for current ones.

Head to Questacon Canberra for some awesome natural disaster experiences that you and the kids will love and live to talk about!

Head into your local library for loads of free school holiday and Easter events.

The Canberra Deep Space Communication Centre is heaps of fun for kids and adults alike for free, check out a piece of moon rock 3.8 billion years old.

Canberra Space Centre is lots of fun for any budding astronauts in your household and totally free.

Ever played disc golf? Its loads of fun and you can play free at Edison Park. It’s a lot like mini golf but with a Frisbee!
