In a jail interview published on the eighth day of the search for Lonzie Barton, the man suspected in the case said he and the boy’s mother were told to be suspicious of the child’s biological father and that he wants the toddler found.
William Ruben Ebron Jr. spoke to The Florida Star for two hours Wednesday at the Duval County jail said Clara McLaughlin, publisher of a newspaper that covers Jacksonville’s black community.
“He said they are trying to make him look like a monster,” McLaughlin said Friday, on the day the interview was published by the weekly paper.
