AARP Tax Assistance

The AARP Tax-Aide program offers free, one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, and other standard schedules. Counseling is available to all low-to-middle income taxpayers, regardless of age. No advance registration is needed; people will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. Individuals must bring a photo ID, last year’s tax return, and all relevant tax information with them.

Relax with Raindrop Therapy

Give your feet a treat by experiencing Raindrop Therapy. Inspired by the Lakota Indians, Raindrop Therapy uses therapeutic oils for balancing and rejuvenating the mind and body. When properly applied to the neck, back and feet, these essential oils can bring about electrical alignment and help relieve a variety of discomforts caused by imbalances in the body. Gentle Stretching with Gina

This free class emphasizes stretching, coordination of breath with movement, and attention to alignment. The class is designed to create breath awareness, enhance balance, and increase flexibility. Stretching is great for those who are experiencing joint sensitivity, or overall stiffness. Wear loose clothing, bring a towel & mat. Presented by yoga instructor, Gina Mercado.
New Disney DVD Release Family Movie Event

Tai-Chi: Enter the Healing Journey

In this first of a three part journey into the ancient Chinese healing exercise, you will learn and practice Tai-Chi. In class, students will perform soft, continuous movements that will allow them to receive many positive aspects of renewed health, while developing internal stillness. Some of the benefits of Tai-Chi include: relief from muscular tension and anxiety, increased concentration and memory, enhanced sensory awareness, and improved balance. This free workshop is presented by Hector M. Ruiz, Jr., a certified instructor in Tai-Chi and Qi Gong.

Adults and teens (Age 14+) are invited to attend the Project Lap Blanket crochet group at the Bartram Trail Branch Library. The group will crochet or knit blankets for cancer patients at area hospitals. All skill levels are welcome. Can’t come to any of the meetings? Pick up the crochet pattern at the Reference Desk in the library and crochet the blanket in your spare time. The Main Library will be closed through April for renovations and improvements that include a complete update of the restroom facilities and the reconfiguration of the Children’s Library and Adult Reading Area. Patrons wishing to utilize hold services during the closure should contact the Main Library at 827-6940 to designate a secondary pick up location. The book drop will remain open for items to be returned. Any items that would have normally been due during the closure will not be due until May 1. SJCPLS thanks patrons for their patience and understanding during the renovation period.
