Thomas Leon Reid III is both a new member of South Carolina’s Rock Hill Rescue Squad (York County) and delivers pizzas for Pizza Hut. It appears that last weekend he got those two tasks mixed up. York County Sheriff’s deputies say Reid was delivering pizzas using emergency lights on his 2000 Honda Accord.

Rock Hill Rescue Squad Capt. Joe Shackelford told The State that as a probationary member Reid should not even have lights or a siren on his car.

The complaint came from a motorist who saw Reid chasing another vehicle and driving erratically while having emergency lights on. According to a police report, Reid denied that occurred.

Jonathan McFadden, The State:

Reid denied that he turned on his emergency lights and became “increasingly argumentative,” the report states. He told deputies the lights and the switch were both broken before refusing to give deputies the name of his rescue squad supervisor. Reid allegedly told a deputy that he was illegally taking pictures of Reid’s car. He began recording the deputy on his phone, and later claimed the deputy tried hitting him with his patrol car.

Warrants were issued for Reid, charging him with unlawful use of emergency signal and reckless driving. He was arrested while wearing a Rock Hill Rescue Squad T-shirt, the report states.
