With their third album Advancement already after hitting the shelves and the launch party approaching in Whelan’s on the 9th April, Solar Bears have dropped a second music video from the LP, another in their line of collaborative work with filmmaker Michael Robinson. Robinson has worked closely with Solar Bears since he directed the video for ‘She Was Coloured In’, the title track from their debut album. In the following years he has continued to work with the Wicklow-based electronic duo, and together they have developed a distinct and mutually complementary aesthetic that continues to develop into a unique and harmonious canon of work.
Shot on a variety of film formats including Super 8 and 16mm, Robinson blends abstracted shots of natural patterns, both chaotic and entrancing, with fractured kaleidoscopic light displays. It’s an apt and mesmerising accompaniment to ‘Separate From The Arc’, the thundering closing track from the new album.
