New Event to Showcase Top 3 Starved Rock Businesses

(Utica, IL) – Starved Rock Lodge is teaming up with August Hill Winery (Utica) and Lone Buffalo (Ottawa) to launch a new event called “Flight Night”. The trio of businesses will allow guests to safely travel from place to place aboard the Starved Rock Trolley and sample a trio of tastings at each of the three locations. “We created a micro-site called TrolleyTrio.com so that we have one look for all three destinations,” said Amy Trimble, CEO of Starved Rock Lodge, “This makes it easy to book online through any of our websites or social media posts.”

“We can’t wait for people to experience the passion that these local winemakers, brewers, and chefs put into their creations,” said Danna Stillwell of August Hill Winery. The progressive dinner-style evening begins at Starved Rock Lodge where guests board the trolley and head to downtown Utica. The first stop is at August Hill Winery where guests will get to sample a flight of three wines and enjoy three appetizers. The tasting room will be open for additional purchases from August Hill Winery and Illinois Sparkling Company. Next, it’s off to Ottawa to experience the Lone Buffalo and Tangled Roots Brewing Company. Three petite entrees and a flight of three craft beers will be the offering. After dinner, the trolley guests return to the Lodge for a flight of three mini-desserts and a trio of after-dinner drinks. Participants may choose an overnight stay package at historic Starved Rock Lodge (which includes breakfast the next morning) or a dinner only ticket.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to showcase a new way to discover what Starved Rock Country has to offer, we have the capability to capture tourism in a way that we have never done before in Illinois, with a world class winery, a state of the art brewery, and an iconic, historic lodge in a the beautiful setting., said Scott Struchen, CCO of Tangled Roots Brewing Company, “This progressive dinner will give our guests a taste of the very best we have to offer.”

“It’s also nice to let someone else do the driving so you are free to relax and not have to worry about getting from place to place,” said Edna Daugherty, Activities Director at Starved Rock Lodge, “Another great perk of this event is that each guest gets to take home a special gift as a memory of the evening.”

The dates available for Flight Night are November 9, December 14 in 2016 and January 11, February 8, March 8 and April 12 in 2017. Reservations are necessary and space is limited. For more information, please go to www.trolleytrio.com or call (815) 220-7386.
