The accelerator is back by leading industry partners and provides the 10 selected FinTech startups with access to a global network of investors and VCs.

Startupbootcamp is looking for a new COO to take responsibility and accountability for all operational matters within its programme based in Kuala Lumpur. This is a high profile role which can open great future opportunities within the investment community.

Key responsibilities:

The COO needs to take ownership for a variety of operational programme activities and understand the broader implications of the programme on people. S/he needs to solve problems and move things forward without being told and with minimum input from the MD. Having gained experience from operational roles or complex project management, the COO must have great patience, empathy and the ability to understand the broader implications of change on people and organisations. The COO of the programme is the MD number two and trusted advisor. This means that high level of honesty, integrity and trust is required to excel at this role.

The COO must:

- represent the overall programme alongside the MD
- maintain relationships and interact with key partners, mentors and investors
- have good common sense and be a logical decision-maker
- drive effective startup interactions
- structure a highly performing and effective programme
- deliver programme design, sourcing & scheduling
- collaborate with a large group of team members, and provide help to others where needed
- design and refine programme content
- have the ability and self-interest to quickly ‘get up the curve’
- review and optimise processes, document them and ensure that business systems are fit for purpose
- be an excellent and effective communicator (written and verbal) and public presenter
- has the gravitas to work closely with C-level executives member of our partner and investor communities
- be loved by a large group of entrepreneurs

- excellent quantitative and analytical skills
- strong interpersonal and networking skills, a connector, with genuine interest in supporting the success of others
- a clear understanding of what makes successful businesses
- The ability to develop strong customer relationships and manage a large group of stakeholders
- outstanding project management and leadership skills
- proactive attitude, you will not mind getting your hands dirty
- the smart to leverage quickly the existing learning acquired across the Startupbootcamp programmes

Nice to have:

- small business experience and an understanding of the issues and challenges facing startups
- experience of the lean start-up methodology
- an understanding of the venture lifecycle (specifically early stage ventures), fundraising and investor management
- an understanding of the fintech sector trends, processes, needs
- minimally graduated from a B.A./ BSc. or other advanced degrees, with business or computer science qualifications
- have an existing network of startup acquaintances within the Malaysian startup ecosystem
