We always knew The Jungle Book will rock the box office. Everyone who grew up watching it on Doordarshan will immediately go for it. It was our one stop solution for an exciting Sunday. A Mowgli fix on the favourite day of the week is what helped us study hard. But the amount of love the film has received here is REMARKABLE. The film has already moved past Airlift to become the highest grosser of 2016 and shows no signs of ceasing at all. The rampage continues and how! The film in three weeks has earned a massive 141.63 cr.
Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh tweeted the collections saying, “#TheJungleBook [Week 3] Fri 3.58 cr, Sat 6.65 cr, Sun 8.69 cr. Total: ₹ 141.63 cr nett. India biz. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER!” You can see from the collections that the Saturday and Sunday have been massive. From the time it released, weekends have been fantastic for the film. Even in its third week, it refused to slow down. It is only getting better. First time in the history of Bollywood cinema, a Hollywood film has managed to beat the biggies to become the highest grosser of the year. Even Shah Rukh Khan‘s Fan and Akshay Kumar Airlift couldn’t stop its growth.
