Each year as the holidays approach, our worlds become filled with the excitement of the season. The holidays mean different things to different people but regardless of what it means, the time of year brings about many emotions and can become a very busy time of the year. Thankfully by following a few simple tips, the holidays can be easily managed so you can focus on what really matters during this special time of year.

Consider the following tips before jetting off in the coming months.

Use an App to Manage Your Shopping List

We all know the feeling that builds as we compile the list of people we need to buy presents for during the holiday season. Between family, friends, teachers, coworkers, coaches, and the other special people in our lives, it seems the list grows longer each and every year. Stay organized and save time by creating a master holiday shopping list in a program like Evernote or my favorite, OneNote. Create categories that coordinate with your life; family, friends, coaches, teachers, and coworkers with checkboxes for presents and cards help prioritize and organize what can be a rather hectic time of year. Then simply do a review of your master list each year so you never forget anyone. Using this tip can also help you budget for the holidays and see areas of spending that may not be necessary.

Think Long Term Tech

The updates in technology are coming at lightning speed making it almost a guarantee that everyone will have a wish list of their must-have tech items. Use the holidays as a time to think beyond the immediate timeframe. Does your child need a laptop for school? Do you have a lot of travel coming up that calls for an updated tablet? Use the holiday budget to buy those items so the presents maintain interest and usability; this also reduces spending at other times of the year and helps everyone appreciate their gifts throughout the entire year.

Connect the Family

The holidays are often filled with travel; whether traveling with friends or family, stay connected through an app that allows you to communicate as a group and keep track of everyone. Life360 is our app of choice during the holidays and beyond because we can easily text the group, see where people are while traveling and plan effectively.

Go Digital for Holiday Cards

Tradition is something to value but if you are short on time or money and are struggling to get those holiday cards in the mail, consider going digital. There are countless options out there that allow you to quickly create cards with your favorite photos from the year and send them out to your loved ones. The added perk is you are helping Mother Earth in the process because we all know what happens to that mile high stack of cards come the New Year.

Give the Gift of Photo Books

Not sure what to buy for someone? Give them a gift they will remember for years to come and create a photo book for them. Photos from vacations, visits throughout the year, or special milestones come together in a beautiful memento that will be cherished for years to come.
