Head to Mt. Airy to nosh on fare from more than 50 food vendors, shop crafts and apparel from more than a dozen on-site retailers, listen to live music on two stages and more.

The Food and Drink

The dining scene in Mt. Airy has certainly expanded in recent years, and the lineup of local eateries on tap for Street Fare highlights the neighborhood’s tremendous growth.

With food and drink options from 50 food vendors (at last count), it’s best to come early (to try and avoid long lines) and come hungry (to taste everything).

Plenty of seating areas — five total — will be set up all along Germantown Avenue for attendees to sit and enjoy a tremendous array of eats. (Photo courtesy Street Fare)

Look out for such awesome local Mt. Airy eats as Cantina Avenida’s grilled chorizo with guacamole, Trolley Car Diner’s burgers and brats, Little Jimmie’s cupcakes and Jyoti Indian Bistro’s fare.

In addition to showcasing Mt. Airy eateries, Street Fare will also welcome food trucks hailing from across the city, including favorites like Mac Mart Cart, Foolish Waffles, Sum Pig, Pitruco Pizza, Vernalicious, Taco Mondo and The Tot Cart.

With three booths serving adult beverages spread out along the festival footprint, sipping at Street Fare will be a cinch.

Look for local brews from Earth Bread + Brewery and seasonal local craft beer at Trolley Car Diner.

Live Music and Entertainment

No festival is complete without live tunes to keep crowds grooving, and Street Fare has a roster of five bands ready to rock on two stages from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Keep an ear out for lively music by Akil Dasan, Deb Callahan Band, Johnny Showcase, Papo Gely and the Gin Canaries.

Families should report to the kids activity area between East Durham Street and Mt. Pleasant Avenue. The booth with hook kids up with fun temporary tattoos, provide drawing and coloring, crafting and more.

For the shopping portion of the program, goods ranging from jewelry and accessories to skin care and soaps will be on-hand from 20 artists and retailers, including Old Blood Designs, Philly Phaithful, Stitch Prism and the ladies of the Smak Parlour mobile fashion truck, who will be setting up in Mt. Airy for the evening.

Running from 6 until 10:30 p.m., Street Fare in Mt. Airy promises one big block party bash celebrating Mt. Airy’s ever-growing food scene. (Photo courtesy Street Fare)
