The Philadelphia area’s acclaimed aquarium, Adventure Aquarium, recently opened a brand-new exhibit to bring attention to its two largest residents Genny and Button, two 3,000-pound hippopotamuses.

Hippo Haven, the new exhibition, offers guests the opportunity to view the enormous animals, from either top or lower viewing sections.

Plus, Adventure Aquarium is the only aquarium in the world with hippos on exhibit (!!!).

At the top viewing section, expect theatrics, lighting, projection and an original musical score that aims for guests to experience life on an African river.

The lower viewing section allows guests to get nose-to-nose with the hippos as the hippos swim in a 60,000-gallon pool while spectators watch from behind a few inches of glass. An advanced water filtration system makes the water clearer than ever before, too.

Hippo Haven officially opened yesterday, so go check it out. Access to Hippo Haven is included in the price of general admission.
