A man was trapped in his car after a road smash on the A50 near Uttoxeter.
The driver suffered neck and back injuries in the accident which involved a car and a lorry.
An ambulance, two rapid response vehicles, a senior paramedic officer and a doctor attended the scene.
The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance was also there.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man, in his 20s, was taken to University Hospital of North Staffordshire for treatment.
The accident happened shortly after 9am today (November 20)
In a separate incident, a 45-year-old woman suffered neck and shoulder injuries after a hit-and-run.
It happened on the M6 near Walsall, South Staffordshire, between junctions 10A and 10 at 7am on Monday (November 18).
The two vehicles involved were a blue Mazda MX-5 and a red HGV which did not stop at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda, from South Staffordshire, was treated at the scene.
Officers from South Staffordshire Local Policing Team (LPT) are appealing for witnesses, who are asked to contact PC Gareth Jones at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 213 of November 18.
