Ambatovy, a Sherritt International Nickel & Cobalt operation in Madagascar, is currently looking for an experienced Pressure Vessels and Welding Specialist to be a key member of the team dedicated to ensure that Ambatovy pressure equipment and welding activities are in line with the best practices and adhere to all applicable standards, codes and regulations.

The Role
Responsibilities will include:
Be aware and comply with relevant Health, Safety, Environment and Quality legal and other requirements
Provide analysis and plant support on pressure equipment and welding (vessels, tanks, safety valves, pipes etc.) inspection repair and alteration
Develop inspection programs for pressure equipment
Provide expert analysis and plant support welding & piping
Coordinate pressure equipment inspections with stakeholders (Operations / Maintenance / Regulators)
Analyse results of inspections to determine required maintenance intervention to prevent equipment failure and to optimize the overall equipment inspection programs
Active member of the Pressure Equipment Committee
Maintain the hydrostatic test program for plant equipment
Monitor changes to Mandatory Code Requirements and ensure these are built into inspection programs for pressure equipment
In charge of the pressure equipment and welding Quality Control
Ensure pressure equipment quality control and welding quality control programs are developed and implemented
Responsible for overseeing these two programs (Pressure equipment & Welding) and ensure related personnel are properly trained and are qualified accordingly
Develop technical specifications for major repairs and significant modifications when required
Develop reviews or approves the Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) developed by the Maintenance Welding Specialist
Conducts a documented review of these programs periodically to ensure continued suitability and effectiveness
Reviews and approves technical reports provided by inspection staff and engineering support group
Randomly selects and reviews pressure equipment files to ensure inspections reports, examination reports, repair/alteration reports, pressure relief valves servicing records and failure reports are present, accurate and retrievable
Reviews schedules to ensure inspection and servicing intervals have not been exceeded
Participates in defining, implementing and supporting maintenance & reliability processes, standards and templates
Assists in the development and monitoring of department's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance assessments
The Requirements
Full knowledge of the international standards for pressure equipment such as (but not limited to): National Board, ASME, API, EN related codes is required.
Certification of National Board Inspection, API 510 and 570, qualification requirements of "Owners Inspector" as defined in ASME B31 piping codes, or equivalent certifications by other international bodies would be an asset
A minimum of 10 years' overall experience in repair, alteration, construction and maintenance of pressure equipment and welding related activities
At least 7 years' experience in pressure equipment and welding in chemical, metallurgical or petrochemical industries
Experience in Quality control program for Welding activities and pressure equipment
Knowledge on referencing construction code or ASME section IX standard is an asset
B.Sc. degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Welding Engineering or equivalent such as a Technical degree completed by extended specific work experience
International Certification in welding such as IWE (International Welding Engineer) or equivalent such as a Welding Technologist Certificate is required
