Recently i watched this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhqAX0uyRUc
about an Augmented Reality chess Application.
My diploma thesis is really similar.
It is entitled "Dynamic Simulation of Virtual Objects for Augmented Reality Applications. Development of an Augmented Reality Chess"
I would like to do exactly what they did in the video.I would like to have animated Chess pieces to attack each other etc.
The difference is that I have to do it Markerless or maybe i should only use 4 markers around the virtual table!! And imagine that i should use my hand and change the position of the pieces using the relative position of my hand each time.
Which makes it even harder.
I don;t know where to start though.Since i need markerless abilities i have to use a SDK which will fit me. Artoolkit seems out of date with an ancient site and documentation. I checked metaio and it seems better. What would you recommend? Could you share with me your resources for building this great application? Any ar books or anything that helped you with AR?
The greatest drawback is the fact that i can;t find any good Books or step by step tutorials about this subject. I watched webinar of Metaio but they don't explain things thoroughly(API etc)
Any help?PleasE?
