INDIANAPOLIS – Kerrie Schludecker, director of athletics at Boone Grove High School and Middle School, has been approved by the IHSAA Executive Committee as an assistant commissioner. Her appointment is effective August 1, 2015.

Schludecker was one of seven finalists interviewed for the position and fills the vacancy left by Sandy Searcy, who has accepted a position to join the executive staff of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). She will administer the sports of volleyball, girls and boys swimming, and softball for the Association office.

The 30‐year old Schludecker comes to the IHSAA after serving three years as director of athletics at Boone Grove in northwest Indiana. There, she provided administrative direction and oversight to all athletic programs for grades 6‐12. Prior to that she worked two years as athletic director at Marquette Catholic High School in Michigan City and also taught physical education at St. Stanislaus Catholic School during that time.

Schludecker is an active member and served on several committees for both the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (IIAAA) and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) from which she earned a certified athletic administrators (CAA) license. She has served as IIAAA chairperson for professional development and been a state representative in the same area for the NIAAA. She’s also instructed the NIAAA’s leadership training course and mentored new athletic administrators

“I am extremely pleased that Kerrie Schludecker has accepted our invitation to serve as an Assistant Commissioner for the Indiana High School Athletic Association,” commented IHSAA Commissioner Bobby Cox. “Kerrie brings an enthusiastic passion to serve our membership which is evidenced by her proficient involvement within our state’s athletic administrators association. Kerrie is one of the rising stars in our profession and we are fortunate to have her part of the IHSAA team.”

She has a wide range of experience in different sizes and types of IHSAA member schools. She attended a private high school and worked for a private 1A school. She interned for a 4A public school and was most recently employed at a 2A public school system. In her roles, she facilitated numerous sectional and regional tournament events in several different sports.

“I feel very honored to have been selected as an Assistant Commissioner of the IHSAA,” Schludecker said. “I look forward to working with Commissioner Cox, the current assistant commissioners, and serving the member schools and student‐athletes of Indiana. I am very humbled by this opportunity and realize the enormous challenge of replacing Sandy Searcy, of whom I have the utmost respect. My years as an athletic director at Marquette Catholic High School and most recently Boone Grove Middle and High School, were years of great support from the administrators, faculty, coaching staff, and students. I cannot thank them enough for the responsibilities they entrusted in me.”

Schludecker played softball collegiately while graduating summa cum laude from Marian University with a B.S. degree in Sports Management in 2007. She then went on to earn an M.S. degree in Sports Administration from Valparaiso University in 2009. Originally from Indianapolis, she is an alumnus of Roncalli High School and was a starter on the Rebels’ 2001 IHSAA Class 2A softball state championship team.
