Everett Nifong

Lake City Bank has announced that Everett Nifong, vice president and Commercial Lending officer, was named the 2013 James B. Swackhamer Indiana Outstanding Agri-Banker by the Indiana Bankers Association.

The award, which was established in 1983, recognizes involvement in banking and community activities and contributions to agri-business banking at local, state and national levels. Nifong received the award at the Indiana Bankers Association’s Midwest Agricultural Banking Clinic.

“We are extremely proud of Everett,” said Michael L. Kubacki, chairman and chief executive officer of Lake City Bank. “At Lake City Bank, we’ve had a strong emphasis on the agricultural sector for more than 140 years.  Today, our agri-business loans total more than $200 million and we’re committed to serving the industry.  Everett is an effective partner for his clients. Agri-business is a highly specialized type of lending and we have a group that includes five experienced, industry knowledgeable relationship managers focused on the sector. The industry’s growth and the bank’s dedication to the agri-business sector are critical to Indiana’s economic success.”

Nifong has worked as an agricultural credit officer for 28 years. He works with farmers and agricultural businesses throughout Northern Indiana to finance land purchases, equipment purchases and business operating expenses. Nifong grew up on a local farm and has earned degrees from Bethel College and Indiana Wesleyan University.

“Everett’s clients rely on him for business and financial advice,” said Joe Kessie, senior vice president at Lake City Bank. “Because of his background, experience and knowledge of the farming industry, he is able to be a financial partner to his clients and help them build for the future.”

Nifong’s commitment to farmers starts early. He has assisted many young and beginning farmers with financing arrangements that will give them a sound start in farming.

Nifong’s involvement in the community extends beyond the agri-business sector.  He is president of the Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club, and chairs their annual fundraiser. He has been involved with Kosciusko County United Way in a variety of roles, and was named the 2012 Campaign Volunteer of the Year after helping to raise more than $2 million for its annual fundraising campaign. Nifong has also worked with the Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy, the Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce and various economic development organizations.
