We are going to make it harder for Bangladesh in third ODI: Tim Southee

New Zealand pacer Tim Southee has assured one and all that Bangladesh will not be dealt a free hand when it comes to playing the third and final ODI of the series.

“We know going to Bangladesh isn’t easy so we want to make it as tough as we can for them when they come here,” Southee said.

“A lot of the guys who have been to Bangladesh know it’s a tough place to go and they’re great cricketers in their own conditions and they’re always improving game by game overseas,” Southee said.

Pakistan fined for slow over rate

Pakistan has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate against Australia during the second Test that ended in Melbourne after Australia pulled off a miraculous win on the final day.

Ranjan Madugalle of the Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fine after Misbah-ul-Haq’s side was ruled to be two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 percent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

Yuvraj Singh says 2016 has made him a better player

Newly-wed Yuvraj Singh might not have been playing for India in the recent past but he is surely not out of the scheme of things as far as the Indian selectors are concerned.

Yuvraj had a pretty impressive beginning to the year with a comeback to the Indian squad for the T20I series in Australia.

“The year ended with my getting married. It was a year that made me a better cricketer because I was able to make a realistic assessment of my game. I discovered that my passion had not ebbed a bit,” Yuvi said.

The ongoing tussle between National Cricket Selectors and the Sri Lanka Cricket Board which prompted Chairman of Selectors Sanath Jayasuriya to tender his resignation needed Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera’s intervention to douse the growing discontent between the top level of Sri Lankan Cricket.

Earlier, news broke that Jayasuriya had decided to step down as the chairman of the section committee and had even forwarded his resignation to the Minister of Sports on Wednesday (21).

Jayasuriya stated that he was unhappy with the interference of some members by the Cricket Executive Board. He also opposed SLC’s decision to stop selectors for visiting ongoing tours.

Misbah-ul-Haq to take a call on retirement in the next couple of days

Following a poor run f form with the bat, Misbah-ul-Haq has seen his stock as a batsman come down rather significantly.

While his age of 42 years sees him as one of the most likely candidates to retire, he had repulsed the answer a few short months back when he was asked the same question following Pakistan’s exploits in England.

Australia announces two big changes for the final Test at Sydney

Nic Maddinson, the New South Wales middle order batsman, paid the price for the string of poor scores and has been subsequently left out of the 13-member squad for the third and final Test against Pakistan in Sydney.

The Boxing Day Test match 2016, the last match of the year between Australia and Pakistan at the MCG was expected to be a thrilling one. Pakistan had shown a lot of courage and determination in the pink ball Test and that boost the stakes on them.

“I think especially after scoring over 400 in the first innings, we weren’t disciplined with the ball. We conceded about 270 runs in about 58 overs and I think that’s where we lost all the momentum. From there we were behind the game. It’s a funny game under pressure. The fact that you can only draw and lose the game puts pressure on the side.” Misbah said.

Dwayne Bravo ruled out of BBL 6 with hamstring injury

Melbourne Renegades have been dealt a massive blow as West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Big Bash League 2016-1.

Bravo, one of Renegades’ key all-rounders, injured his hamstring while fielding against the Perth Scorchers in the thrilling match with the Renegades unfortunately lost.

Bravo seemingly ruptured his hamstring after diving to stop a Michael Klinger cut shot near the boundary rope. He was immediately seen in pain and was immediately stretchered off the field and could not take part in the match.
