Steve Smith wants to test Virat Kohli’s temperament on India tour
Aussie skipper Steve Smith wants India captain Virat Kohli “a little bit angry” when they face off against India in the 4-match Test series competing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The Aussie skipper suggested that Kohli was a great cricketer and led his troops exceptionally well in the last 18 months, but he felt that Kohli is a very emotional character on the field.
“He is a world-class player and he has, obviously, led the Indian team incredibly well over the last 18 months or so. He is a very emotional character out on the field, but I think he has improved a lot there,” Smith said on ABC Grandstand on Monday.

BCCI not keen on relieving Shankar Basu following his resignation
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly sitting over the letter of resignation turned in by Indian cricket team fitness trainer Shankar Basu.
However, prior to the conclusion of the fifth day’s play at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Basu turned in his resignation letter to the board.
Shankar Basu runs a very successful Fitness studio in Chennai and is also popular in the sports world having worked with certain athletes across various sports as well.

Mark Nicholas in good spirits after abdominal pain scare
Channel Nine commentator and former England county cricketer Mark Nicholas is said to be recovering from his predicament earlier today following his abdominal pain earlier today.
During the break, there were reports from around the Melbourne Cricket Ground that the 59-year old was suffering from pain and had been sweating rather profusely.
A spokesperson from the Channel Nine network also went on to release a statement regarding the proceedings that had unfolded at the MCG on the day.

Bangladesh team faces fine for slow over-rate in 1st ODI against New Zealand
Following the match International Cricket Council (ICC) in its media release mentioned that: Bangladesh has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate against New Zealand during the first One-Day International in Christchurch on Monday.
Chris Broad of the Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees who was in charge for the match imposed the fine after Bangladesh were found to be one over short in terms of the time allowed.

Former head coach of Pakistan cricket team Dav Whatmore and former captain Wasim Akram have backed the selector’s decision to add right arm fast bowler Sohail Khan and expressed surprise over coach Mickey Arthur’s statement about fast bowler Sohail Khan.

MS Dhoni led India to attend week-long camp in Bengaluru
Team India will meet for a week-long camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru ahead of their limited-overs series against England.
After a brilliant year in the longest format of the game, the Men in Blue will hope to replicate their tremendous Test form in the limited-overs leg under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

ICC suspends Zimbabwe left arm pacer Brian Vitori for 12 months due to illegal action
Brian Vitori, the Zimbabwe fast bowler, has been suspended from bowling in international cricket for 12 months after an independent assessment, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Monday (December 26).
The 26-year-old left-arm bowler was assessed at the University of Pretoria on 12 December after the legality of his bowling action was reported for a suspected illegal action during the tri-series final against Sri Lanka on Sunday, which the hosts lost by six wickets on 27 November.

MS Dhoni to play warm-up matches against England
Team India is all set to kick off their new year with a 3-match ODI series and 3-match T20I series against the Englishmen that begins from 15th January with the 1st ODI scheduled to be played at the Gahunje Stadium in Pune.

Bengal batsman Pankaj Shaw slams 413 in local league game
What a terrific Christmas it turned out to be for Bengal batsman Pankaj Shaw as the talented youngster smashed an unbeaten 413 in a local cricket league match in Kolkata on Sunday.
Making his Ranji debut for Bengal only in the last season, the 28-year-old played the massive innings turning out for Barisha Sporting against the Dakshin Kalikata Sansad (DKS) in a three-day first division league tournament organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
The hard-hitting middle order batsman plundered the opposition bowlers all around the park and struck as many as 44 fours and 23 sixes during his monumental innings.

Prominent England commentator Mark Nicholas has been admitted to a local hospital in Melbourne after experiencing abdominal pain during the first day’s play between Pakistan and Australia in the Boxing Day Test match at the MCG.

Ex-IPL chairman Chirayu Amin among the 261 people arrested in Vadodara liquor party
Former IPL Chairman and Managing Director of the Alembic Pharmaceutical Ltd Chirayu Amin was among the 261 people busted by police in a high profile pre-marriage liquor party at a farmhouse on the outskirts of Gujarat late on Thursday night.
The arrested people, however, were later released on bail, police said on Friday. This is the first such raid on a liquor party in the state after Gujarat tightened its liquor laws by bringing in an ordinance in this regard last week.
Acting on a tip-off, Vadodara district police busted a pre-wedding party organised by city-based industrialist Jitendra Shah at his farmhouse on Sevasi road in Ampad village near here on Thursday.
