Slated is the home of an exclusive networking community for producers, directors, investors, sales agents, studio executives and much more.  Currently there are 6,000 industry professionals on the wait-list thirsting to gain access to this influential network.

Unlike crowdfunding where filmmakers campaign tirelessly for donations, here films often have attached talent, production companies, and agencies.  Slated is used for more than just fundraising and films listed can be looking for sales agents, pre-sales, post production deals or other industry connections. The film investments tend to run anywhere from a half million to fifteen million dollars.

Below are SSN’s Top Film Picks on Slated, giving you an inside look into the films of tomorrow. Due to the high importance placed on the exclusivity of the information presented and as SSN’s team are not registered accredited investors on Slated, it is unknown if the films are fundraising, only that they are currently listed.

Phoenix – Romantic Comedy
After a one-night stand, Sue tells Lee she’s improbably pregnant - something he thought could never happen - but that she doesn't want things to continue any further.  Lee drives cross-country in a friend's old sports car to talk things over. They share an intense road trip to the Grand Canyon and then separate…or do they?  A one night stand followed by a road trip sounds like a nice getting to know you story grounded in realism with a touch of zaniness thanks to the outlaw element.  Luke Wilson and Olivia Thirlby (Juno) are attached to star, which lends the couple a relatable sweetness that will endear the characters with audiences.

Sushi or Not to Be – Romantic Comedy
A cross between Rocky and My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Sushi or Not to Be, tells the tale of Ken Takahashi, who yearns to be a star while working as a sushi chef.  In order to stay in the country he proposes to his Chinese girlfriend, but she rejects him when she learns about the visa.  After quitting the restaurant he learns about a theatrical production that will be his saving grace, with one caveat- it also stars his ex-girlfriend.  While comedies don’t always play well internationally, an international cast along with a theme of yearning for stardom, might just hit the right notes overseas. Although the actual cast list is confidential, producer Jeffrey Levy-Hinte’s past film, The Kids Are All Right, gives this film a reputable base of true-to-life dramedy.

Car Dogs - Dramedy
Set in the sleazy underbelly of a car lot, Car Dogs tells the story of a crucial day in the life of a car salesman who must do whatever it takes to rest control of his life from his father and mount his own dealership. “Surrounding this drama is the hysterical world of car salesmen and the unbelievable scams they pull to get you behind the wheel of a new car.” The film already has Patrick Wilson, George Lopez, and Octavia Spencer on board and the tone of the sizzle reel is brisk rockin’.  The film scrapes the down in the dirt, wheelin’ and dealin’ done to make a sale in a cutthroat profession.  Nothing’s easy, but that’s why it’s interesting.

Family Slaycation – Horror-Comedy/Thriller
Evan Ferrante and Adrian Grenier’s Family Slaycation turns the nuclear family on a decapitated head.  Ferrante and Grenier summarize the film, “The members of The Bane Family – Bill, Ellie, Sophie, and Tommy – have a need to kill, and spend their quality time murdering not-so-innocent victims while on vacation.” Although there’s not a pitch reel, the high concept is wacky enough to appeal to fans of Dexter, Zombieland, and National Lampoon’s Vacation.  Sans a pitch reel, it’s hard to tell much more, but the concept peeks curiosity and is built for easy sequels.

Omphalos – Action/Thriller/SciFi
Simliar to Memento and Pi, Omphalos tells the story where, “A detective investigates a murder, only to find that the victim is himself. Soon, he discovers multiple versions of himself, not all of them friendly.” Starring Edoardo Ballerini (Boardwalk Empire) and Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage) this film promises to keep audiences on edge and engrossed.  The producer’s Isen Robbins & Aimee Schoof (Blue Caprice, Brother to Brother) Independent Spirit nominations speak to the project’s quality as above the average crime thriller shoot em’ up.
