EXPERIENCE HISTORY – RARE OPPORTUNITY TO FLY IN WWII AIRCRAFT AT SRQ
FEBRUARY 5-8, 2015
SARASOTA, FL (January 22, 2015) – In honor of its 50th Anniversary, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 180 of Sarasota is hosting a Round-Engine Aircraft Ride Event (RARE) Thursday, February 5 through Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Rectrix North, 1234 Clyde Jones Road, at Tallevast Road and 15th Street, E, near the Control Tower at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
EAA-National is providing two fully restored and very unique historic aircraft to the general public. Climb aboard one of the few remaining World War II airworthy B-17 bombers or experience the luxury of the Ford Tri-Motor 5AT, the first commercial airliner built on a scheduled production line in 1929. Either will surely provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Each plane will take flights at the North end of SRQ near the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) control tower, and will offer an exceptional flying experience while viewing the Sarasota/Bradenton shore area from the air. Discover why the B-17 bomber is called the “Flying Fortress” or what luxury air travel was like in 1929 in the Ford Tri-Motor.

Revenue from the RARE event helps cover maintenance and operations costs for the aircraft and aid in EAA’s ambition to “keep ‘em flying” for many years to come. Once your information is received, you will receive an email reservation confirmation and a release form that must be completed by each media representative going on the flight and delivered to the one-site EAA personnel on the day of the media flight.
