Denna del av min syfestivalsrapport kommer att handla en hel del om heminredning även sådant vi kan brodera men även en av nyheterna i årets mässa och det är att man även fört in konceptet hantverk.
This part of my Sewing Festival report will be a lot about home decoration including what we can embroider, but also one of the novelties of this year's fair, and that's that they’ve also brought the concept of craftsmanship.
För första gången på många år deltog jag (ganska spontant) i en workshop om ”Milk Paint”. Jag hade läst om det på syfestivalens Facebooksida och hade definitivt bestämt mig för att besöka den montern och köpa färg för att prova. Återförsäljaren här för Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint var ”Skattkammaren”.
Workshopen började med att vi fick sätta oss ner runt ett bord där det fanns ett par förmålade brädbitar samt en trären liten dalahäst.
For the first time in many years, I attended (quite spontaneously) in a workshop on "Milk Paint". I had read about it on the Sewing Festival's Facebook page and had definitely decided to visit the booth and buy the paint to try. The retailer here for Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint was ”Skattkammaren”.
The workshop began with that we had to sit down around a table where there were a couple of pre-painted wood planks and a trären small wooden horse.
Vi fick prova på att lägga på vax på den ena brädbiten och sedan måla på ett lager. Tyvärr la jag nog på för lite vax.
We got to try to put the wax on one bit of board and then paint on a layer. Unfortunately, I didn't put enough wax.
Den andra brädbiten preparerade vi med lite ”Hemp oil” på valda delar och målade sedan över med milkpaint.
The second bit of board was prepared with a bit of "Hemp oil" on selected parts and then painted over with milk paint.
Därefter fick vi måla på dalahästen direkt med milk paint.
Then we got the paint on the wooden horse directly with milk paint.
Tyvärr lyckades jag spilla lite ”Hemp oil” på min ena brädbit men det fixade sig sedan.
Medan bitarna torkade berättade damen från Skattkammaren om färgen och gav lite tips och råd om olika material.
Unfortunately, I managed to spill a little "Hemp oil" on one piece of board, but it fixed itself later.
While the pieces dried the lady from Skattkammaren told us a bit about the color and gave some tips and advice on different materials.
När det torkat slipade vi med ett fint sandpapper och förseglade sedan med ”Hemp oil”. Visst blev det häftigt. Vill man ha den lite antika/vintage finishen är det perfekt. Här ser ni min förvaxade bit.
When it had dried we polished with a fine sandpaper and then sealed with "Hemp oil". Sure, it was awesome. If you want it a little antique / vintage finish is perfect. Here you see my pre-waxed piece.
Här är som preparerades med ”Hemp oil” och vax. Jag tycker faktiskt att det blev riktigt bra.

Dalahästen skulle vi sedan använda ett vax som försegling till och vi kunde välja mellan genomskinligt, vitt och antikvax. Jag valde antik varvid färgen fick en lätt ”smutsig yta” men jag tycker att den också fick en viss charm.
On the wooden horse we would then use a wax seal and we could choose between transparent, white and antique wax. I chose the antique color and got a kind of a "dirty surface" but I think that it also had a certain charm.

Här ser ni kitet med färgpulver, vax, hemp oil och bonding agent som jag köpte.

Stoff och Stil är en tygbutik som jag gärna besöker. De finns även på nätet vilket är bra. Tyvärr var de bara där och delade ut kataloger, men deras katalog till julen är alltid supermysig. Förutom att alla färger nästan alltid är väldigt smakfulla så får man dessutom en massa tips och idéer. Dessutom är hemsidan på några olika språk. Glöm inte att de har en rad fina gratismönster.
Deras utställning på Syfestivalen var två dukade bord. Ett bord för jul där man visar en dukning med tyger och andra dekorationer. Verkligen fint. Jag gillade verkligen bandet de använt.
Stoff and Stil is a fabric store that I like to visit. They are also available online which is great. Unfortunately, they were just there and distributed catalogs, but their catalog for Christmas is always super cozy. In addition to all the colors that are almost always very tasteful you also get a lot of tips and ideas. In addition, the website is in a few different languages. Do not forget that they have a number of great free patterns.
Their exhibition at the Sewing Festival were two set tables. A table for Christmas which shows a table setting with fabrics and other decorations. Really nice. I really like the ribbon they used.
Nyårsdukningen var i is och blått också den väldigt tilltalande.

Nästa stopp blev i Berninas monter. Förutom att de har en mängd imponerande maskiner så fick jag se de boxar jag sett på bloggen ”Syskolen”

Två andra klänningar fanns också på display och en av dem finns också beskrivet hur man gör i bloggen ”Syskolen”. Supertrevlig blogg och har ni inte upptäckt den förut så titta för det finns så många fina saker och ideer förklarade på ett mycket pedagogiskt sätt i den.

En av de andra två saker jag köpte var faktiskt en sax som jag tror kan vara bra att klippa trådar med. Fiskars brukar ha bra saxar. Den köpte jag för en billig peng.
I mitt nästa inlägg kommer jag att visa en annan trend som fortfarande verkar vara ”jättestor” och faktiskt verkar blir större i och med att man även kommer stort med mycket naturliga material och även traditionella sätt att göra det själv på.
One of the other two things I bought was actually a pair of scissors that I think might be good to cut threads with. The Fiskars scissors usually are good. I bought it for a cheap price.
In my next post I will show another trend that still seems to be "huge" and actually seem to get bigger and with introducing a lot of natural materials and traditional way to do it yourself.
