The appetite for the World Cup is at a fever pitch as the field has been whittled down to the round of sixteen. A myriad of records have been broken, but one thing remains clear; social is in full on striker mode.

Over 16.4 million tweets were racked up for BRA vs CHI, breaking the Super Bowl record and adding to the over 300 million tweets to date. And with over a billion interactions on Facebook from over 220 million people, World Cup is what everyone is talking about.

Univision has been at the forefront of social and digital interaction with their highly interactive fans, and their World Cup coverage and offerings is proving to be the Pièce de Résistance.

We sat down with TV, Social and Second Screen pioneer David Beck, SVP and GM of Social for Univision to discuss how they approach everything from branded integration and getting executive buy in, to co-creating content experiences with fans and viewers using today’s cutting edge social technologies and strategies.

Exciting times, and we still have a few more weeks of games to go. #goteamusa
