(SPOT.ph) People may argue that we technically have no summer season in the Philippines. We only have, after all, two seasons: wet and dry (plus erratic changes in the weather considering climate change). But we have to say that the months of March to May give us the best summer experiences because our beaches are as lively as ever.
We round up some of the beach festivals you can check out this summer, from Luzon to Mindanao. We’re an archipelago and it’s always safe to say that we won’t run out of beaches to party in.
Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival
When: March 10 to 12
Where: Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
Now on its seventh edition, the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival once again brings together local and international acts in the arts and music industry in an effort to promote protection and sustainability of the environment. It is held outdoors in a grass-terraced amphitheater at the foot of Mount Malasimbo overlooking the majestic Puerto Galera Bay. In between swaying to the beats of Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas and Alfredo Rodriguez, you can check out the latest installation art by Agnes Arellano, Leeroy New, and more.

Aliya Surf Camp: Surf and Music Festival
When: March 18
Where: Aliya Surf Camp, Sabang Beach, Baler, Aurora
Surfers battle it out in the waves of Baler through the first Aliya Surf Camp x O'Neill Surfing Cup. You can register for P500 and join your category of choice: Men's Shortboard, Men's Longboard, Wahine Shortboard, and Manila Longboard (exclusive to Manila competitors). Come night time, you can wind down and listen to the music of Ely Buendia, Markus Highway, SINOSIKAT?, Sebastian Duterte Band, Tropical Depression, The Camerawalls, and more. Concert tickets are at P1,500 each, but you can avail of packages inclusive of accommodation ranging from P1,700 to P2,600.

2017 Philippine Flow Fest
When: March 31 to April 2
Where: The Circle Hostel and Kapitans Surf Resort, Liwliwa, Zambales
Now on its fifth year, Fire Arts & Music Beach Festival (a.k.a. Burning Man Festival of the Philippines) brings together fire and modern circus professionals from around the world in one of Zambales' famous beach strips. Workshops are also available for those who want to learn flow art using poi, hoops, sticks, and staff. There are yoga and capoeira lessons, live art, sunset beach jams, and island tours. A festival ticket for three days is at P2,400. This includes your own festival shirt, goodie bag, raffle stub, workshop passes, and other freebies.

Prelude to Summer: Dance Carnival
When: April 1
Where: Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu
Bluewater Maribago gives its guests a different kind of private beach experience by hosting Prelude to Summer. It welcomes the beach-bod season by bringing together two of the country's best DJs: Merlon Orelleno and Marc Marasigan. Ticket rates start at P450.

Summer Frolic
When: April 21 and 22
Where: La-ne's Kalapyahan, Dahican Beach, Mati City, Davao Oriental
Summer Frolic, now on its second edition, is one big music event along the beautiful seven-kilometer strip of Dahican Beach in Mati City. After a whole day of riding waves in the surfing and skimboarding capital of the south, you can enjoy the music by Funk Avy, known to his fans as the Philippines’ "King of Electro and Banging Remixes,” Mecha, and many more. LaBoracay
When: April 27 to May 1
Where: Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan
There’s no specific venue for this summer festival, because all of Boracay Island just turns into one big party place come Labor Day weekend, thus the name. You can choose from their bars and restos depending on your taste in music (or crowd), or go all-out and have a fun time bar-hopping. It’s not called the Philippines’ party island for nothing!
LAborUNION Festival 2017
When: April 27 to 30
Where: Urbiztondo Beach, San Juan, La Union
Labor Union Festival, inspired by Aklan's Laboracay, comes with the promise of 48 hours of non-stop partying for Labor Day weekend in the Philippines’ surfing capital of the north. You can either pitch a tent near the concert venue or stay in one of Urbiztondo Beach's cozy resorts. The only rule here is: "Eat, drink, and be merry!"

Nalu Music Fest 2017
When: April 28 to May 1
Where: Nalu Surf Camp, Sabang Beach, Baler, Aurora
This summer event along Sabang Beach includes a three-day surf competition and a two-night music festival. Performers include Parokya ni Edgar, Franco, Moonstar 88, The Ransom Collective. Definitely a must-not miss! By the way, if the P100,000 cash prize doesn't catch your attention and inspires you to grab your board and leash, we don't know what else will.

Summer Siren Festival
When: May 12 to 14
Where: Subic Bay, Olongapo City, Zambales
Since its inception in 2014, the Summer Siren Festival has been bringing together the country's festival goers and beach lovers at Crystal Beach Resort in Zambales. This year, it tries out Subic Bay where it will hold simultaneous beachside activities and pool parties all over the area, including the newest summer destination—Inflatable Island. We can already hear Summer Siren’s anthem "Free" by Kidwolf & BV playing over and over again in our heads.

SarBay Fest 2017
When: May 25 to 27
Where: Gumasa Beach, Glan, Sarangani Province
Mindanao's biggest beach festival is set in Sarangani Bay, the pride of the Soccsksargen region because of its white-sand beaches. Sarangani Bay Festival, or Sarbay Festival, has seen hundreds of thousands of tourists since it started in 2005. Aside from nightly parties, there are also sports events including a volleyball competition, swimming challenges across the bay, skimboarding, and rowing contests during the three-day event.
