Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve, and Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts have been named American League MVP finalists by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
On the National League side, Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant and Washington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy were also named finalists in their respective league.
Joining them, though, is rookie phenom Corey Seager, as the Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop is up for the NL MVP award, as well as the NL Rookie of the Year nod.
On Monday, the BBWAA announced the finalists for the MLB’s four major annual awards – MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the Year – with winners set to be announced within the next two weeks.
