Yahoo Named Founding Partner at Levi’s Stadium
The San Francisco 49ers have partnered with Yahoo in a deal with the team’s new stadium in the Silicon Valley. The agreement will allow fans to upload photos to Flickr – which is owned by Yahoo – during the game as well as allow fans to visit the Yahoo Fantasy Football lounge in the stadium’s luxurious suite tower.
Yahoo is just the latest Silicon Valley company to join in with the new business opportunities at Levi’s Stadium, as Violin Memory and Brocade are also “founding partner” sponsors of the stadium.
Google, Apple, and other Silicon Valley companies are also involved with the latest NFL stadium which will host the Super Bowl L in 2016.
While the financial terms of the 10-year deal were not disclosed, it was revealed that Yahoo will be “the exclusive online sports content, social networking and photo and video sharing partner” at the 49ers new stadium.

MLB Biogenesis Case Could Soon Bring Suspensions
The probe into the Biogenesis wellness clinic that allegedly supplied Major League Baseball (MLB) players such as Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun, Nelson Cruz and a hand full of others with performance enhancing drugs (PED) could potentially bring suspensions sooner rather than later, according to a report.
The investigation into the Miami clinic has been onging since before spring training of 2013 and MLB has started interviewing big leaguers linked to the investigation.
People who have spoken to MLB investigators are convinced there will be at least some suspensions handed out.
MLB has not yet interviewed Rodriguez or Braun, as investigators continue to amass as much evidence as possible in regards to the two players, who are easily the two biggest stars named in the report turned over to the Miami New Times by former Biogenesis employee Porter Fischer.
Rodriguez and Braun are the top two reasons this PED case is such big news, especially considering both have been linked to PED’s in the past.

Marlins Decline in Sports Ticket Sales Hurting MLB Numbers
In a recent article by the Bradenton Herald, it was reported that the Marlins are responsible for 20 per cent of the decline in sports ticket sales in MLB.
MLB has seen a decline of 3 percent in ticket sales this season and the Marlins are the main reason for this. Despite a huge increase in sports ticket sales in Baltimore and Los Angeles the Marlins hitting the dumps is affecting more then their local community. It is affecting baseball as a whole.
The Marlins drastic decline in sports ticket sales were due in part to a complete re-build occuring only one season after going all in – and failing – with the signings of big ticket free agents such as Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Heath Bell. All three players have since been traded and last season’s team is a long lost memory.
Sure, the Marlins are ‘Even Steven’ from last season, but Miami should think about the damage they are doing to baseball now.

Facebook Using Hashtags
Sports fans that love to converse about their teams and chat about live games on social media are already familiar with how to use hashtags thanks to Twitter and now Facebook has taken one of their greatest tools and put it to use on their own site.
Facebook recently announced the roll out of their newest feature: hashtags. While hashtags are not a new concept in the world of social media, their functionality on Facebook should be something exciting for brands – and in particular for sports teams.

Toronto Maple Leafs Make Trade for Bernier
The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired goaltender Jonathan Bernier from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for defenseman Matt Frattin, goaltender Ben Scrivens and a second round NHL draft pick in 2014 or ’15. The year that the draft pick is collected will be up to Toronto.
The Leafs will also pick up some salary cap relief, thought to be in the $500,000 range.
The move by GM Dave Nonis shows that he is looking for depth at a position that already features last season’s number on goalie James Reimer.
The GM said that the number one goaltending job is up for grabs and he expects both goalies to have an equal shot at earning the top spot.

Fifa’s 3D World Cup Coverage may not Happen
FIFA may be going back to the idea of regular, old 2D for the next World Cup.
The plans to broadcast next summer’s FIFA World Cup in 3D are under threat following ESPN’s decision to close down its 3D-only channel.
Soccer’s governing body planned to facilitate the broadcast of 3D coverage of the event, but has been forced into a rethink as a result of ESPN abandoning its investment in the technology.
The idea seemed like an excellent one, although 3D coverage of an entire soccer tournament does seem a little outrageous.
Would the soccer balls be jumping out of our screens? Would player’s celebrations for scoring a goal be clearer then normal?
