Week 8 in the NFL featured some action-packed, highly intense games that featured outstanding performances. Unfortunately it also brought many injuries and some major disappointments.
Along the way, we were treated to some comical quotes, perplexing comments and some straight truth-telling by coaches and players.
We sorted through them all to bring you some of our favorites.
Packers coach admits to Denver Broncos butt-kicking
The Packers were dealt an unexpected 29-10 loss to the Broncos, and Aaron Rodgers was held to dreadful 77 passing yards — the lowest of any career start in which he finished the game. Additionally, the Packers’ defense had little success stopping Peyton Manning and Co., who played their best offensive game of the season.
“You’ve got to compliment Denver. That’s a humbling loss. I haven’t had my ass kicked like that in a long time. They covered us very well. I thought we pass protected particularly well in the first half and there was a lot of green grass out there. So they did a heck of a job covering us.”
I guess there’s nothing better than an old-fashioned butt-kicking to prove the Packers are human.
“The dam may break” if the 49ers started Blaine Gabbert
"… That's what could potentially happen if they put Blaine Gabbert in the game, and rested Colin Kaepernick." https://t.co/U66unlkUzz
— NFL (@NFL) October 31, 2015
This clip took place prior to the 49ers getting smoked by the St. Louis Rams, 27-6 in Week 8.
While it was noted that benching Colin Kaepernick and starting Blaine Gabbert could make matters worse, would it really? Kap hasn’t thrown a touchdown now in two games and he completed less than half his passes in Sunday’s massacre against the Rams.
At this point, why not try out Gabbert, because the 49ers’ dam already has major cracks.
How safe is it to play in St. Louis?
San Francisco 49ers running back Reggie Bush was the latest casualty of the dangerous concrete sideline strips at Edward Jones Dome, home of the St. Louis Rams.

Thanks to that nasty strip of concrete, the 49ers sadly lost Bush for the season after he sustained a knee injury.
It was just last week that Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown careened into a wall blocker, then fell onto the concrete. Fortunately, McCown’s shoulder was okay, but we have to wonder who the next victim is going to be?
Looking back to Week 3, when fortunately, nobody caught on fire when flames broke out on the Rams turf, there are certainly many dangers of playing at St. Louis.
Rams need to move to LA. STL cursed. Turf catches on fire earlier this season and concrete takes out McCown and Bush in back to back weeks.

With the Rams likely on their way to Los Angeles, any repairs or other solutions to reduce the risk of injury don’t look to be in the plans.
Jay Cutler still confused about dumping fourth-quarter leads
"Have to find a way to win it in the fourth quarter." – Jay Cutler

The 2-5 Chicago Bears delivered bad news once again when the team lost their 20-13 lead over the Minnesota Vikings late fourth quarter. The team had no solution for stopping Teddy Bridgewater, who connected with Stefon Diggs for a 40-yard touchdown which tied the game. On his turn, Cutler went three-and-out and the Vikings kicked a game-winning field goal on their last drive.
It was the first time the Vikings beat the Bears at Soldier Field since 2007.
Cutler was outplayed by a second-year quarterback in the last moments of the game, which is something we’re all still trying to figure out.
Dez Bryant’s baby monkey making news headlines again
My new best friend…. Dallas Bryant world #throwupthex

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant returned to action for the first time since breaking bones in his foot in Week 1.
And, boy did his return spark up a bunch of heat. Besides taking flak for allegedly taunting Seahawks’ receiver Ricardo Lockette after he took a hard hit and lay motionless on the ground, Bryant is now dealing with PETA regarding his newly acquired monkey, Dallas Bryant.
According to PETA, one would need a special-use permit to house a monkey in DeSoto, Texas, and those are not given out to private individuals. Therefore, PETA is asking for animal control to “immediately investigate the possible illegal possession of an infant capuchin monkey.”
A terribly sweaty Matt Ryan claims consistency is an issue
ICYMI: Matt Ryan said after Sunday's game that the Falcons need to be more consistent: https://t.co/fLBmiiOB4H pic.twitter.com/DXLt9IaQx0
— Atlanta Falcons (@AtlantaFalcons) November 2, 2015
Ryan changed his clothes to address the press, however he was in desperate need of a handkerchief or towel or something to wipe down his sweaty face. And as far as consistency goes, we can hand it to the Falcons for consistently losing to their division rivals this season.
The Falcons lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in overtime, 23-20, and they lost in Week 6 to the New Orleans Saints, 31-21.
Is parting with Matthew Stafford still a “comical” idea?”
Mayhew: "Comical" to suggest parting ways with Matthew Stafford in 2016 https://t.co/OrOhQuR5WF
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) October 30, 2015
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford posted yet another stinker of a performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in a horrible loss of 45-10 in Sunday’s London game. This comes on the heels of Lions general manager Martin Mayhew stating it was “comical” to consider parting ways with Stafford after last week’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Comical or not, nobody is laughing in Detroit these days, but perhaps more than a few are laughing at the worst team in the NFL.
Justin Tucker nails Drake’s “Hotline Bling” Dance
Watch for the Justin Tucker FTW Field Goal
Stay for the positively ridiculous celebration dance #SDvsBAL https://t.co/jI48tTRN7q
— NFL (@NFL) November 1, 2015
Tucker saved the day, kicking a 39-yard field goal to swoop up a 29-26 win over the San Diego Chargers. The win was only the second the team has managed all season. And, with Tucker being responsible for the game-winning score, he can channel his inner Drake as much as he wants.
What on earth is Peyton Manning trying to say?
Peyton Manning isn't saying "I told you so." He doesn't listen to us in the first place. https://t.co/oIrGqDEVj1 pic.twitter.com/pjw9gCZkiZ
— Sporting News (@sportingnews) November 2, 2015
After a lofty victory over the formerly undefeated Green Bay Packers, we think Peyton Manning was trying to field questions and comments from the press with a big “I told you so” message.
“I’m not going to put a Jim Mora on you and say the famous, ‘You think you know, but you just don’t know, and you never will, Manning said via 9news.com.”
“How can I say this without hurting anybody’s feelings? I just don’t give what y’all say much merit.”
Manning and the Broncos’ offense played their best football to date this season and looked like the team we remember from mid-2014. For this, they remain undefeated at 7-0.
Cardinals’ John Brown blasts angry fantasy football owner on Twitter
The Arizona Cardinals activated John Brown in Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately, he was still experiencing some soreness in his hamstring and didn’t play a single snap in the Cards victory over the Browns.
Fantasy owners were none too happy watching Brown’s fantasy score remain a goose egg all game long and some took to Tweeting him directly to express their frustration (via sportingnews.com).
“Shout out to @Jwalk_back12 & James Jones, y’all just earned a trip to my bench next week ☺️ — Jason Thedsombandith (@JasonTheds34) November 2, 2015”
The owner of the tweet has since deleted his post, but not before Brown caught wind of it and decided to retaliate with this:
I'm a be at your girl house it's our bye week <img src="http://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/72x72/1f60a.png" alt="
