Chicago Bulls Mid-Season Review – After what was suppose to be a comeback tour for Derrick Rose, it wasn’t in the cards and it turned out to be another recovery year. Rose got hurt early on in the season and the forecast went from sunny to grey skies real quick. You could tell the Bulls seemed a little bit defeated after losing Rose again for the season, but they over came it. It however did not come easily or immediately.

Chicago Bulls Mid-Season Review

The trade of Luol Deng brought panic and furry to the fan base. Some thought this meant the Bulls were “tanking” and trying to lose out the rest of the year. Well, even though it hasn’t played out as it was imagined, the Bulls are still a top four team in the eastern conference at 27-25. Yes, two games above .500 is worthy of a top four seed in the Eastern Conference. Sad, but true.

The Bulls are winning games by playing good defense. It’s that simple. Right now, the Bulls are the WORST scoring team in the entire league. Averaging just over 92 points a game. That’s bad and you’re not going to win in the playoffs with an offense that inefficient.

Do Bulls Make A Move At Trade Deadline?

Lets hope so, but history points to no. If the Bulls do pull out a miracle and move Boozer to New York for Carmelo , it would change the outlook of the season and future. But again, its very unlikely.

When we reached out to hoops expert Sam Smith of Bulls.com he made the following comment:

“I don’t expect the Bulls to make any moves this week.” Smith added, “To my understanding Anthony has no interest in Bulls.”

Yes, its been nice seeing D.J. Augustin revive his career in Chicago but he’s not enough. The Bulls need another scorer for their anemic offense immediately. The Spurs have been rumored to be interested in Boozer but what the Bulls would get in return wouldn’t make sense financially for the team.

Bulls Future

Assuming they don’t do anything special before the trade deadline, the Bulls future will be determined this offseason. I could say this a thousand times, the Bulls need a solid shooting guard or small forward who can score 15-18 points a night. Sure, making the playoffs or being a top seed in the conference is nice, but the Bulls have been there before. Making the playoffs is no longer good enough. The Bulls need a championship caliber team and if they make a couple of moves they will have it.

Bulls Grade

B

With what the Bulls are working with its hard  to give them a bad grade. No one expected this from a team who lost and traded its best two players.

Predictions

My Bulls season preview I wrote is pretty comical now. Take a look here if you need a good laugh. So, here’s my Bulls Mid-Season predictions……

Taj Gibson will get his incentive money and win the Sixth Man Of The Year award.

Bulls will finish 44-38, good enough for the 4th seed and will host its first round playoff match-up.

No big moves will be made until the offseason.

Mirotic/ Stephenson / Anthony- At least ONE of these guys will be on the Bulls roster next year.

If not, well I guess I’m just a beautiful dreamer…
