The Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals And Los Angeles Angels Have An Equal Shot At Winning The 2014 World Series, According To The Season-Ending Odds

It seems like almost yesterday when Sports List of the Day and baseball fans everywhere were getting geared up for the 2014 season. Now it’s over, Derek Jeter and all.

Well, the regular season is.

It’s time to gear up for the playoffs. But first, let’s take a quick look back to March 30th, six months ago, when the season’s opening odds to win the World Series hit Vegas, and were rundown here.

I’ve reposted those odds below, along with the 10 playoff teams’ odds of going all the way.

How do they compare?

Favorably, as far as the Los Angeles Dodgers are concerned. The Dodgers were the favorites going into 2014 and they are the favorites heading into the postseason (along with the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Angels).

Four of the five preseason favorites made the playoffs, including the Dodgers, Nationals, Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals. The New York Yankees fell short.

Way off base was the 15-1 call on the reigning champion Boston Red Sox, who wound up finishing 20 games under .500 and in dead last.

Longshots? Those Baltimore Orioles were 40-1, but now are looking much better at 6-1. The Kansas City Royals were even longer at 50-1.

Enjoy the postseason!
