Whoever said soccer wasn’t an American thing? Certainly don’t tell that to Alex Morgan, who will soon be representing our nation in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.

Morgan has had prior success in competing in the Games of the Olympiad, having captured helped the States capture gold at the 2012 edition in London. Morgan’s success is not just limited to mere Olympic rings, however. She was also a part of the US ladies’ triumph and tale of redemption at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, as well as a major contributor a championship with Portland Thorns FC of the NWSL.

Individually, Morgan has earned several titles as well. An alumna of Cal-Berkeley, Morgan earned First Team Pac-10 honors from 2008-10, and also took a spot on the NCAA All-American team in 2010. She was also named CONCACAF Player of the Year in 2013. In addition to her national duties, Morgan currently suits up for the Orlando Pride, an expansion team in the NWSL.
