We have some college basketball action out of the Pac-12 on Sunday as the Oregon State Beavers visit the #10 UCLA Bruins.
The Oregon State Beavers will be looking for the upset of the year after dropping all 12 of their conference matchups up to this point. Jaquori McLaughlin led the team with 12 points on 4 of 10 shooting with 3 triples. Drew Eubanks, Kendal Manuel and Stephen Thompson Jr. each chipped in 11 points, with Eubanks also adding a pair of blocks, while Manuel added 3 triples and a pair of steals. Thompson Jr. also contributed a team-leading 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Ben Kone added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the losing effort for the Beavers. Eubanks leads Oregon State with an average of 14.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while McLaughlin is leading the team with an average of 3.1 assists per game this season. As a team, Oregon State is scoring 64.3 points per game on 43.6% shooting from the field, 34.2% from behind the arc and 66.1% from the foul line this season.
The #10 UCLA Bruins will be looking to build on their current 3-game winning streak, highlighted by an 82-79 come from behind win over Oregon in their last outing. Lonzo Ball and Aaron Holiday tied for the team lead with 15 points, with Ball pulling down 11 rebounds for the double-double in addition to the game-winning shot while Holiday grabbed 7 boards with a pair of triples. Thomas Welsh and Bryce Alford each added 12 points, with Welsh going an efficient 6 of 7 from the floor while Alford did his damage from behind the arc, hitting 3 threes in addition to a team-leading 4 assists in the win. Isaac Hamilton contributed 11 points to the winning effort while TJ Leaf scored 8 points. Leaf leads the Bruins with an average of 16.7 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game while Ball leads the team in assists with 7.6 per game this season. As a team, UCLA has the highest scoring offense in the country with 92.5 points per game with the highest field goal percentage in the nation at 53.4% from the field this season. The Bruins also boast a 42.2% from behind the arc, good for 4th-best in the nation while also shooting 73.3 from the foul line this season.
Oregon State is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record and 9-23-1 ATS in their last 33 road games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. UCLA is 3-14 ATS in their last 17 conference matchups and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. Oregon State is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
Despite Oregon State's success in this matchup, there is absolutely no way I'm giving the Beavers a look here. They are one of the worst teams in the country, and the highest scoring offense in the nation in the Bruins should have this one wrapped up by halftime.
Give me the Bruins in a rout.
