Ricky Taylor will complete the FIA World Endurance Championship season with Larbre Competition, it was announced on Saturday.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship ace was originally set to do the Mexico City, COTA and Fuji rounds of the season with the French team, but he will now add the Shanghai and Bahrain races to his schedule.
“Ricky’s driving at Larbre for WEC 2016 with the GTE Corvette is a new motivation for the whole team,” said Larbre Competition owner and team manager Jack Leconte.
“Our relationship started three years ago at Le Mans and, since his participation, he has suited very well with the team manager, engineers, crews and teammates, especially with Pierre Ragues.
“This is a boost for the motivation to reach the top-three of the 2016 championship. After the Mexico round, we decided to extend Ricky’s plan with Larbre to race all remaining WEC events.”
Taylor, Ragues and Lars Viljoen secured a class podium finish in the Larbre Corvette C7.R at Circuit of The Americas two weeks ago, in addition to Taylor’s WeatherTech Championship overall victory just a few hours beforehand.
“It’s been really good, so far, with the Larbre team,” said Taylor. “We got a good result in Texas. I think that showed the potential of this team and this lineup.
“Having the additional races, I can become even more engrained in the team and we can get into a bit more of a rhythm with more continuity that will help us work together even more consistently.
“I’ll do my best to make short work of learning the new tracks and hope to help Larbre achieve some more success.”
