PREP GOLF: Findlay boys second again in TRAC tournament

MAUMEE — Toledo St. John’s scorched the course in posting a 297 team total on Friday in winning the St. Francis Invitational at Maumee Bay Golf Course.

The event was also the second of a series of tournaments that will position Three Rivers Athletic Conference teams for the final league tournament to be held Sept. 25 at Bowling Green’s Stone Ridge Golf Course. St. John’s, which shared the 2011 TRAC title with Findlay and Toledo St. Francis, has won the first two legs on that TRAC schedule.

Findlay, outright TRAC champion a year ago, was second for the second straight league tournament of 2013, posting a 324 score to finish 27 shots behind St. John’s but 21 strokes ahead of third-place St. Francis (345).

Sophomore Trevor St.-Jean fired a 79 to lead a balanced Findlay attack. Spencer Shoemaker and Sam Griffith carded 81s and Jarrett Quanrud an 83.
