The University of Findlay men’s basketball team will begin its 2013-14 regular season on Nov. 9 with a non-conference home game against Marygrove. It is one of 13 home games the Oilers will play at Croy Gymnasium.

Findlay, which reached the NCAA Division II tournament and went 22-8 while ending the year ranked No. 22 in the country, will play an exhibition game against the University of Dayton on Nov.2 at the UD Arena. The Oilers are expected to add a second exhibition game to their schedule as well.

The Oilers, who have played in 11 of the last 12 NCAA tournaments, winning the national championship in 2009, will play only two other games in the month of November. They travel to Cedarville on Nov. 14 and head to Wheeling Jesuit on Nov. 18.

Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play begins in December with a road game against Lake Superior State on Dec. 5. Findlay is coming off a second consecutive conference tournament championship title, winning both of those championships on the road. The Oilers end their trip with a game against Northwood on Dec. 7.

Findlay will play its first conference home game on Dec. 12 when it hosts Michigan Tech on Dec. 12. The Oilers wrap up the weekend with a Dec. 14 game against Northern Michigan at Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers conclude their December schedule with a non-conference game against Notre Dame on Dec. 21. It is the last game Findlay will play until heading out for a two-game road swing in Michigan for games against Ferris State (Jan. 2) and Grand Valley State (Jan. 4).  The layoff over the holiday season includes a week-long NCAA-mandated break for D-II teams.

Findlay returns home the following week to battle Saginaw Valley State (Jan. 9) and Wayne State (Jan. 11). The Oilers play Tiffin on Jan. 18 on the road before closing the month with three consecutive home games, including a Jan. 23 showdown with in-state rival Ashland.

The Oilers open the month of February on the road when they travel to Malone to play the Pioneers on Feb. 1. They return home Feb. 3 to take on take on rival Hillsdale. It is the first of three consecutive games Findlay will play at home before playing four of their final five games of the regular season on the road.

The only home game in that stretch is an encounter with Malone on Feb. 22. The Oilers wrap up the regular season on March 1 with a game against Hillsdale.

The conference tournament begins March 5 and finishes up March 8-9. The NCAA tournament will begin March 15 and continue on March 16 and March 18. The D-II Elite Eight is scheduled to be played March 26-29 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.
