Cote d’Ivoire’s Yaya Toure is the only African in the 55-man shortlist for the 2015 FIFA FIFPro World  XI which was relased on Thursday.

This year’s nominations were drawn from votes 25,000 footballers from 70 countries out of which eleven names will be chosen for the FIFPro XI.

Toure captained Cote d’Ivoire to their second African Nations Cup after they beat Ghana in the final of the 2015 AFCON.

He was also key for Manchester City as they finished second in the Barclays Premier League to Chelsea.

Toure’s Manchester City team mates Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero are also on the shortlist.

The FIFA FIFPro World XI will be announced on January 11, 2016 at the Balon D’or Ceremony in Zurich.
