Black Stars and Columbus Crew wing back Harrison Afful was awarded the SWAG footballer of the year ahead of Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan at the Awards Ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the State House.

The award was given based on his performances for former club side Esperance of Tunisia which saw him feature in the finals of the CAF Champiuons league on 3 separate occasions between 2011 and 2014.

Afful is expected to feature in Ghana’s team when they take on Canada in Washington DC in an international friendly on October 13th.

Young long distance runner Martha Bissah picked up the Athlete of the year award for her work done in the 2013/2014 season while Augustine Okrah of Al Merriekh was also recognized as the SWAG Premier League MVP for work he did playing for Berekum Chelsea in the 2013/2014 football league season which saw him score 16 goals.
